    UAD cards

The UAD cards only run their own built in fx or special ones that you buy seperately (all of which are great!). You wouldn't be able to run say a waves plugin from the UAD card... it don't work that way. Why do you want to run so many plugins?? Ever heard of 'sends'??? :p Both the TC...

    Mic-Pre < $200

Tampa way ahead of behringer... easy! I'd say Tampa or Focusrite Trackmaster if you want full rack (the compression and eq parts atr also great!) or DMP3.

Tiny box room as control room... upstairs landing for vocal and Acoustic guitar recording!!! Made up some free standing acoustic panels and it actually sounds great!!!... seriously, better than my old much larger room. :D

Groove Agent plug-in. How do I record?

I've not used tracktion... but in cubase you solo the drum track and 'mixdown'. Then import the drum audio back into the project. Probably won't help but at least I tried. :o

Good suggestion... I forgot to say that! ;)

    Vocals are too clear

If this is most noticble after compression (as I expect) try running it through an expander first, just to bring down the ambient noise. It sounds much more natural than a gate but should do the trick.

    baserecording

DI can have some good results - very clean and clear. But if you wanna get dirty mic the cab. Far nicer tone in my opinion.

    blue tubes plugins

I used the original collection for a while at uni and found them very useful. They definately have a sound that that is its own. I mean, not transparent and clynical but more organic and earthier. If your into pop/soul then I'm not too sure but if you crave 'that' sound from early records this...

Where is that verb/echo in the mix????

My 2c... Make sure the verb/echo doesn't fill in too much low-mid frequencies that muddy mixes. I also take of the really high end eq to save it sounding too unnatural. (Something to be careful of if you use cheap pres as they tend to build up very quickly) Maybe think about using a stereo...

    whats everyones favorite synth?

I found mine for £70 and a 40 mile drive from some fella who had no idea how nice it was. :p :D  They are around but before you hunt one down you'd better know what it sounds like! It can sound beautifully mellow and warm. The bass too is rich. You can use pretty much anything...

    My Rack Setup

yup! That's how I do things. I have compression on my Preamp so on the rare occasions that I need it on the way in I can, but mainly it's straight in. Then run out to the sends.

    whats everyones favorite synth?

woow big question. One thing to bare in mind with the Juno is that it doesn't have midi... at all... not a bit! The sounds are flexible but hard to get your mitts on. I hunted for months to find this beauty. May be easier / cheaper to go the soft synth route. Some are simply breathtaking now...

    whats everyones favorite synth?

Boards of Canada style worbles and drones for dance companies mainly. Although it was great for adding a unique sound on a cover of Velvet Undergrounds 'Sunday Morning'... it sounded messed up!
