This problem can also be caused if your soundcard is set to record everything that comes out of the headphones as well as what your mic is picking up. I've experienced both of these problems before.

Im not familiar with Sonar 4, but I know Sonar 6 PE has an option when recording to do "sound on sound". This records all new tracks with the other tracks in the new track. Trying making sure you are not set to "sound on sound".

Yea probably so. My computer isnt the greatest. Its a dell from 05 with xp. only about 70 gb of hard dirve. But, its enough to run sonar 6 producer and produce decent recordings. I'm looking into the PCI interfaces to hopefully improve the sound quality.

So I guess my next question would be how compatible are firewire interfaces with "older" computers, say four years old?

Does anyone own or use a MXL 990s? My band mate just bought one and raves about the sound quality and that it is a condenser mic, but I'm not that impressed. Anyway, I was just hoping to get some feedback on the best applications and setups that this particular mic can be used for. Thanks:cool:

We record everything through a mixing board straight into the computer. I don't think we really need many inputs, maybe just two to record stereo. We mainly need the interface to clean up our recordings.
