Using the SPX-90 or 90 II as a vocal harmonizer?

Anyone know if a Yamaha SPX-90 or 90 II can be used as a vocal harmonizer, by using it's pitch shifting capability or otherwise? Thanks. Fresh! After Six http://www.geocities.com/a6productions

VS owners - what effects do you master with?

Good question. The only outboard I have currently is the FMR RNC 1773 and an Alesis Microverb III. I've heard that the built in effects of the VS-880VX are cool, but not that great for mastering. I've yet to try them....Any sugggestions? Fresh! After Six Productions...

    Sorta newbie....

Hey Richie...thanks for the clarification. The $$$ investment you are talking about are way outta my range right now...but for commercial work (read industry standard) I can see the point you are making. Within the great scheme of things, I still consider myself kinda new to this, but I...

    Sorta newbie....

Thanks for the response, Richard. As the thread subject says, "sorta newbie". I am running my mics through my Mackie 1202VLZ, which has very good preamps. My Blue Tube is used for mic vocals or mic'ing my acoustic guitar. My Alesis Microverb provides delays, gates, and reverbs for various...

    home studio confusion

Jerry, You are neither wrong or right, other than you won't be able to drive your studio to work;) . Seriously, remember...salesman, 9 times out of 10 are there to make money, and it's obvious that the plethora of portable CDRW HD recorders on the market, make it a hot piece of equipment. Also...

    My studio

Keen eye, Rick...you got it. It's hooked up to the Roland S-550 sampler. The sampler takes both VGA and RGB RF outputs for monitor connections. Cheap way to hook up a monitor, cool, huh? I just received a BW monochrome one (sharp as a tack), cause the green one in the pic failed a few months...

    steps to writing a song

Mikeh... Well put. In my opnion, the problem with rap, especially today, is it's lyrical content and it's portrayal of many walks of life, more often than not, it definitely glorifies violence, and in it's infancy stages, it wasn't like that. But suffice it to say, a large part of that, in my...

    My studio

Thanks, it's definitely comfortable...ergonomics is everything...but I'm thinking of building a studio in an unfinished part of the basement....trick is to finish it. Good to hear about Presonus customer service! Me, I do R&B/Soul/acid jazz...gospel.

Precisely, I know many musicians that feel the same as the ones you know...but as we say...everyone is entitled to opinion.

    what is MIDI good for???

Ok, you have the sequencer and audio capability in Cakewalk, and you know u need to hook MIDI IN's to MIDI OUTS. Your beats are audio, from Acid, right? So they need to be recorded into Cakewalk's sequencer, then have CW drive your keyboard. The keyboard has to have it's MIDI channel(s) to be...

    steps to writing a song

Not here to start any type of flame war, or even defend rap...but since I've been listening to it (a lot less over the last couple of years, though) since it's inception (when all the naysayers said it would die a quick death), it does require a formula and talent, in it's own respect. Does it...

    My studio

That is one of the old Omnirax systems...but get this...I walked into my local store (Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center, in MD), lookin for some furniture solutions...the keyboard dept was giving them away....free! U-Haul it, you can have it....Seems that with the shrinking equipment size...
