    Preamp trhough combo

A separate preamp will work great plugged into an FX-in. Hmmm... What if you took fx-out from a whole Marshall head, and plugged to FX-in of another amp??... That I don't know.. Probably not good.

    2 amps hum problem.

I don't actually know! :D Everywhere just reads 220/230V 50/60hz, and it's over ten years since I was trained electrician, and never worked a day on that profession since!.. Heard a rumour that things had been altered a bit, but not sure.. :D ..Ok, my main fusebox/meter says 220V 50Hz.. You're...

    2 amps hum problem.

I forgot I had this thread, awaiting closure.... Well, the power strip, putting everything in a single socket, helped the most. Thanks for reminding me about that old trick! :D I got rid of the 60-cycle rumble, and was left with a waterfall-like hiss on the other amp, the other is dead...

    Epi Thunderbird Pro IV

 From the sheer multitude of answers here, I kinda figure I'm the first owner of one here. :D My first impression: Definetly NOT the be-all-end-all bass for rock. Flimsy, very thin body, slim taper neck and the slim headstock make this thing feel like a toy... Compared for example, my...

    Epi Thunderbird Pro IV

Hi! Just bought one from Ebay, specs seem pretty good, hope everything goes right. Anyone here played one?? How's the action on those things? The regular bolt-neck T-birds I've seen were all pretty high-actioned..

    2 amps hum problem.

The connections are same as here: http://www.lehle.com/products/pics/P-Split-II_150_Use1.jpg Physically, It's on the floor between the amps. Amps are a Novik mk120 and Sovtek mig-30, euro-type 3prong plugs. If I remember correctly, removing one amp from splitter didn't help much, I had to plug...

    2 amps hum problem.

I played around with the switches, they changed the hum some, but didn't eliminate it. There's two outputs in the p-split, "dir" which is straight, and I think my guitar sees that ground, and "ISO" which is behind the transformer. I emailed the Lehle company, will see if that is to any avail.

    2 amps hum problem.

I was under the impression that the Lehle p-split is especially designed to break the groundloop at the source, with some transformer??..

    2 amps hum problem.

Hi all. Since I'm the single guitarist in our 4-piece band, I thought I'd thicken up the sound using two amps in stereo. I used a Loop-master ABY-switch but that setup has terrible hum!! So, I bought a Lehle p-split passive splitter, which seemed to work on a gig out of town, but on our...

    Straps!

A good wide plain leather strap, accept no substitute when gigging with neckdivers. With Schaller straplocks. ...Tend to scratch the side of my neck though.. But the basses, and the LP-baritone are some heavy SOB:s to wrestle through, for example, two 40min sets in a row, like I did on friday...

    Scored:Novik mk120 tube lead.

Hi! Yes, it is my 4. russian tube amp. My friends are laughing that I've been "endorsed by CCCP" :D This thing rocks. At measely 350 bucks, 120Watts of point-to-point mastervolumed highgain terror!.. (2,93 for a tube-watt, beat that. ) I believe this is made after the "Red Bear"-era by...

NEW ONE HERE !!! I REALLY need a suggest about AMP MIKING...

Before all this, take the cabinet and listen closely to what speaker has the best sound. Recently got nice results micing with a sm57 right on the grill, halfway between centre and edge of the speaker, and a large condenser microphone 30-40cm away.. first amp and guitar panned to right...

    power tube suggestions

I presume they're 6l6???.. according to wiki... I recently asked around since Sovteks have also 6l6-variants in them. This is from one amp-repair guy: "On Tubes, you have multiple choices with the migs, You can use EL-34's, I like the J/J and Electroharmonix EL-34's You can use 6550's, My...

    Faceripping.

My relatively fresh band Cavus, a recording from rehealsals. Warning: Pretty damn metal. One guitar (me), bass, drums and vox. We're rehearsing for the gig I mentioned at guitarforum, luckily there will be a third band too, blackmetal, so we're not alone playing to bikers there. :D This has no...

Do you use a pick to play bass?

I've said this many times and will say again. I play with a pick. I've tried playing with fingers many times, but I just can't get the attack, speed or precision that the pick gives me. Sometimes during a gig my thumb goes tired of holding a pick, then I play some notes with my middle and...

Much tone benefit from pre-tube swap??

The situation would be all too clear but for one thing that throws me off..: How come I can get a decent tone out of it on high volumes, if using a separate preamp before the head??.... That I can't wrap my head around, if the culprit is the output transformer.

Much tone benefit from pre-tube swap??

The speakers are rated to 70watts and 8ohms, a 2x12" cabinet. all my heads have 4,8 and 16 ohm outputs. The cab plays fine with mig-30 and my 100watt Spetel head. (not cranked, ofcourse) I think you were right on the power-section, though. I e-mailed a dude called Lee Jackson about his DVD on...

Much tone benefit from pre-tube swap??

Yes, I'll try some 12at7, 12au7 and 5751 tubes in the front, all are of lesser gain than the 12ax7. Then another thing, I e-mailed one reputable amp-tech in U.S, and he said that there are things going on with the Sovtek output transformer. (recommended a mercury magnetics or a marshall plexi...

Much tone benefit from pre-tube swap??

Hi again folks! Another dilemma and a problem!... well, what do ya expect, I'm a struggling artist! :D From the beginning: I've played through a Koch Pedaltone-->Sovtek mig-30 head, and liked the sound very much!.. So, I figured that getting a Mig-50H head would give me the tone with the...
