    Solo Guitarist

I was hoping to get some feedback on a few tunes that I recorded from an acoustic guitarist named Pete Feltman. http://www.pmdproductions.com/mp3/PeteFeltman-Preoccupy.mp3 http://www.pmdproductions.com/mp3/PeteFeltman-LooktotheSkies.mp3 http://www.pmdproductions.com/mp3/PeteFeltman-Beyond.mp3...

    Sonar

I'm looking to buy Sonar sometime soon. I was just wondering if anyone new of a place to buy Sonar cheaper than $300. I've checked all of the major sites like Zzounds, etc. and they're all pricing it at $300.

Hissing and popping when multitrack recording

Thanks Goodrat. That's it. I disabled simultaneous record/playback on Cakewalk and it works fine--that's what requires full-duplex operation. Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated!

Hissing and popping when multitrack recording

I posted a thread in the Cool Edit forum, but the same thing happens when I use cakewalk. Here's the link: https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=23572

    Multitrack recording hiss

Sorry, I forgot to mention a few things. My sound card is a Soundblaster AWE64. Also, this same thing happens in Cakewalk.

    Multitrack recording hiss

I recently got cool edit pro and I'm trying to record in the multitrack view. The problem is that I'm getting a lot of hissing and a few pops. When I record in the single track view, it sounds perfect. Obviously it's not my outboard gear because it records a single track fine in the single...

    Mixer for multitrack computer setup

The 01V costs $1800 and it is 12 channels. I'm looking at 24 channels for $1500.

    Mixer for multitrack computer setup

Yes, RWhite. That's why I'm not going for a digital mixer. I want to be able to use all channels for mics if I want, so obviously I can't afford a digital mixer that can support anything like that. Does anybody have any opinions on Studiomaster? Their Trilogy 326 would work pretty well for me.

    Mixer for multitrack computer setup

I'm looking for a good mixer that will suit my needs for a computer multitrack setup. I'll be using a Motu 2408 and eventually a couple of Alesis AI3 A/D converters to achieve 24 tracks on my computer. But I've been looking for a mixer to plug all of my mics into that has balanced direct outs...

    large vs small diaphram

You'll Like This Here's a great link that pertains exactly to your situation. In fact it discusses almost exactly what we have been talking about. It points out the advantages of small diaphragms for off axis response and for transient (impermanent and very quick) noise response. Make sure...

    large vs small diaphram

I think I'm goin with Tim on this one.

    large vs small diaphram

I'm sorry, I have to correct myself! I said towards the end their that large diaphragms pick up subtleties better. I should have said that the more sensitive mic does this better, not necessarily a large diaphragm. But, (and this is no longer theoretical) for the most part (most...not all...

    large vs small diaphram

Couldn't agree with you more! Yes, theoretically response time should be faster for a small diaphragm condenser mic. Are large diaphragms "slower?" Theoretically, yes. But when it comes down to every individual mic, who really knows? So I agree with both your theory and the fact that every...

problem stretching audio in Cakewalk PA9

I'm in Cakewalk looking at one of my tracks in the Audio View. I have cut a potion of the audio into its own seperate piece. I highlight that piece. Then I right-click, select audio effects, Cakewalk, Time/Pitch Stretch, and then set the time to (oh, say) 105%. I hit OK. The new piece of...

problem stretching audio in Cakewalk PA9

Alright, here's the problem: when I go into the audio view for one of my tracks, i'll use the scissor button to cut the wave file apart. After moving it to where it needs to go, I want to stretch the audio to fill a longer time slot. Sometimes the stretching command works, sometimes it...

    Cakewalk deleted my stuff! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. That's right, the same damn thing happened to me. I had 16 tracks of stereo audio on there, and then POOF! Gone! I noticed that it only happened if I left the file alone for about a week, though. I have changed a bunch of my settings since then, and it...

    "New" song; please listen

Wow, I really liked the song. There's a lot of talent in there. I agree that the vocals were a bit hidden. I think it would help if they were turned up a little bit over the guitar (I'm not sure they need it, but you could try adding a little compression, but you don't want to damage the...

    Input Needed

Sounded good. I thought the vocals were really strong, and well defined--good job. Maybe a little heavy on the reverb, though. Have you thought about adding some more prevelent instruments to better define the chord structures? Just an idea. If you did then the reverb would definitely need...

    Mic Sensitivity

Whoops! I meant the thread "small vs. large diaphragm." Sorry!

    Mic Sensitivity

I have no idea what your expectations are for your recording, so I'll just go ahead and point out a few things. If you try to record the whole band at once with two mics, you are going to run into a number of problems. First of all, the band will obviously sound like it is in a room. That...
