Ear plugs buddy, ear plugs.
I'm a violinist and we use them all the time in the orchestra (esp. when near horns, piccolo, Eb/D clarinet - think "Sacre" -, timpani & the like), and not only in operatic productions when you are less visible...
Sometimes health takes precedence...
How did you record your guitar, did you plug it into the 2i2?
I've read that it isn't the best sound card for guitars, because it can't deal with the high gain of some instruments and it starts distorting at a relatively low input level.
Are the "clean" tracks fine?
Nope you didn't get it... ;-)
They are young and hyper- (if not over-) "techified", every single one of them has a tuner & a metronome on their smartphone.
They're just too lazy to use it, is all... :-D
Sorry, work & internet access problems...
The OP (yours truly ;-) ) is a classical musician by trade, but he just started delving into all things recording, MIDI & live audio a couple of months ago...
I've read "Home Recording for Dummies" and I'm more than halfway through "Modern Recording...
Hi,
please don't flame me, I'm perfectly aware of what this entails on the musical level (ugly sound of loops & stuff).
I'm conducting a small youth wind orchestra: we all work for free, just for the heck of it, but we always have trouble finding a drummer.
I kinda like the sound of a wind...
Tangles are not an issue, different phrasings are.
It's only very sparingly that you actively seek different bowings, for instance in order not to break up long notes or phrases: in those cases changing bow asynchronously (e.g. in a phrase made of quavers the inside player of each stand can...
Since we play near each other (in section), anyone with the violin on the "wrong" side would be a hindrance: the movements of the bow would be out of phase, with the potential for collisions.
Also in modern orchestras the violins are almost always on the left side of the hemicicle, which means...
A friend of mine gave me this very same advice, mainly because closed headphones can mess up intonation, but, since I'd not be the only one using them, I think headphones would be better.
erm... actually, that's not how it works.
You hold the violin on your left shoulder, irrespective of the fact that you're right- or left-handed; the violin is slightly tilted clockwise looking from behind (since it's resting on your left shoulder & clavicle), so the sound goes towards the...
Hi all,
I'm thinking about buying a couple of closed headphones, budget 30-60 Euros.
The problem I currently have with my Sennheiser HD 457 (which I kinda like) is that they are open.
I'm overdubbing myself multiple times with a violin and, having the instrument fairly close to my ear I have to...
I'd be upset if there wasn't, it costs more than double what I paid for my Zoom & you still need an external mic.
I'm not looking for perfect quality, just the best possible with what I have.
I also thought about bringing a car battery with myself (no AC on venue: hard to record with an...
@miroslav
ok
@ecc83
The h4n is cheap but not that cheap... it can provide 24V & 48V no problems
@Bobbsy
Exactly the answer I was looking for, thanks & rep+
Hi all,
hope this is the right section, since I'm a professional musician but I just got started with this whole recording thing.
I will have to record a concert with 2vl. soloists + small orchestra (no info on venue yet, presumably interior, might be a church).
I have a passable audio card...
