I just saw those headphones going for 10 pound :O I was planning on spending around 50 pounds should I stick with them or is there something even better around my price range ?
yeah I have studio speakers but the ones I have from an earlier reply from yourself "The Selwins' specifications give a frequency Range of 70Hz-20KHz, which means their bass response will be a bit limite"d.... I will definitely look at those even as just something to bounce back and forth with...
yeah I have no idea why it does that... some notes seem to be louder than others... especially in the chorus when I move to the third fret those notes spike the overall output.
Can you recommend good headphones for mixing with without breaking the bank ? that give a real sound as I have always...
thanks for the feedback, its my first recording on the daw setup.
Yeah im having a hard time balancing I guess, I hear it on my studio speakers and end up turning my panned guitars up due to the bass being overly loud on them....
yet when I play it on my cars sound system the bass losses its...
on the flipside songs where I always felt the bass was too low in the mix on other speakers - televisions marque moon for example.... sounds fantastic on the speakers as it adds a bit more boom to it and brings it a bit more forward than on my car speakers etc.
hey sorry for slow replies.
I have my tv sitting right under my window with both the stand sitting either side with a bit of distance... so probably ten feet from me and they sit about 6 feet apart from each other creating a triangle shape between me and them.
no carpet solid wood floor, not...

I have them sat about 10 feet away from me on those stand and above head height when im sitting down in my living room... I also use them as tv speakers sat at each side...
For weeks I've been struggling to get my mix sounding right everything sounded really muddy but if I dropped the bass guitar track volume it would help but the bass would be too low in the mix...
However I decided to render my song down to MP3 and played it in my car... Wow the bass sounds...
im new so what I think means heee haw … to me the vocals fit nicely in the verse... but when the chorus comes the vocals stand out way in front and the backing track fades a bit in the background... not sure how that happens as with all the instruments coming in I would imagine the vocals would...
are you kidding me ? that sounds like a professional recording! I could swear at parts it reminded me of a radiohead song called Blackstar obviously without the distortion but had that vibe to it. nice work
just did my first mix if you can call it that... I recorded balanced, panned and a tiny bit of eq but might be doing the eq bit wrong.
Im looking for input on if my levels sound way off... I think I have a problem where I hear things are out that aren't and boost too much certain tracks etc...
that's usually what I do with the first 8 tracks.... bass and drums down the centre and two main guitars left and right hard panned, then when I get the right mix I will bounce it to a stereo track... then I will start to add extras like a third guitar.. or backing sounds, and cymbals etc and...
So here is a quick mess around i did using my headphones to set the levels and then mixdown to a stereo track.
(Excuse all the timing issues and sloppy playing I just threw it together to show an example of what sounds good to me when mixing through the headphones and how im disappointed with...
Using headphones is great I can hear how I want it to sound and can notice if anything sounds off much easier for example doubling up a track I can hear when it's coming in just right...however once played through monitors it sounds awful.. something loses its punch or attack etc.
Hey everyone, long time songwriter long time procrastinating recorder....
I'll start with what I use and set up.
I record in my living room, I have two studio monitors about 8 feet away from me on stands and have them slightly turned inwards to hit me centrally, I use a boss 8 track digital...
it auto sets to 7/8 there I no adjustments able to be made its just turn mastering on which lights up 7/8 to record what it is hearing coming from 1.2.3.4 and 5/6 and then when im finished recording I get to listen to a preview and its here I notice its all off, but I crack on and when I listen...
hey hoping to see if I can get to the bottom of my poor sounding mastered track.
I have the boss br800 and it has 8 tracks in total. 1,2,3,4 are single tracks and 5/6 and 7/8 stereo tracks.
When I run out of tracks to use I like to master them down to 7/8 to make more room for other tracks but...
