    Original Song For Mix Critique

The mix is fine, maybe a little bright, but thats a style. You dont necessarily need a sound engineer to make a good mix. The vocals are sounding really fine though!

Help me put it back together

I think what you've went for is amazing. I love the unique sound of the drums and the piano sounds fine to me. The kick drum sounds a little weird for me, I think it lacks attack a little bit, but that is totally subjective and if it was what you wanted, keep it like that. But I would love to...

    Shure SM57 Capsule.

Yes, I heard those sounds really interesting. Do you know a place where I could buy it online?

How Many Guitars do you own

I have a 07' Mexican Fender Stratocaster, a super rare 86 Gianini Stratosonic (brazilian guitar), a home made diddley-bo and a homemade CB guitar. I play them all through my Blues Junior amp.

    Shure SM57 Capsule.

Hey guys. I got an old broken Shure SM57 from a friend and I wanted to know if there is anything I can mod to use it. The capsule is broken, so I should either buy a new SM57 capsule (which is 78 dollars...and is almost the price of a brand new 57) or do crazy stuff with this scrap mic. Is...

    Nobody home

I like this. I dont mind at all the tone of the guitars...just the vocals sound really piercing...I would lower a couple of db's in the 5k range? As for the vox effect, I dont think its a problem...I guess it was an aesthetic that maybe you were after. I miss people using this kind of...effect...

Can you guys tell me if this sounds okay?

I like it...I like the vibe a lot! But I'm a lo-fi fan, as you probably know by now. The volume is really high...I dont like things that loud, but I did enjoyed the loud and piercing guitar. For me the only real ISSUE was the loud volume overall. Mixing is really subjective and I think for...

    Beatles Cover.

Hey guys, thank you all for the feedback. I recorded the drums with one OH mic, one on the snare and one on the kick. I barely processed any signal because the drumkit was in a great shape and sound. But I regret now the fact that I recorded with one OH mic...it sounds kind of boring. Anyway...

    Blues Cover (feedback please)

The only "bad" part of the mix for me is the lack of a real drummer. I think blues its too organic to program a drum beat. Ask someone to play...try to learn yourself..IDK. Other than that, I love the tone of the guitars really piercing yet with a good body to it. Have you used an amp or used...

New Mix - Really Need Feedback :)

I think it sounds just fine. The drums could have more high-end like everyone said, but I am really not fond of using too much EQ. If you have to boost something more than 3db, IMO its better to record things again. But I dont think the mix sound bad at all...I could listen to it the way it is...

    gurf gurston diss

All I have to say about the vocals...proximity effect! Although it has a cool lo-fi quality to it, I am not sure that is what you went for. Actually I dont have a clue of what was your intention with this! You should have specified that...so I could know what to critique.

    Beatles Cover.

Hey everyone. I know that recording a Beatles Cover is a tricky thing to do, because they will always be better no matter how hard you try, lol. But I love them so much that I just dont care. Anyway, I made a version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" because Ringo's voice is similar to...

    mics for altos??

Hey 33fe! Well I have the MXL V67G and it does have a "vintage" feel. If you take a look at its frequency response chart, you will notice that it has not much gain near the high frequencies (compared to the other ones you've mentioned). se2200a nt1 MXL at2035 Keep in mind though that a...

Please Help, one-man band looking for a vintage sound...Need a critique on this track

I dont see the need for editing as much as a lot of people think. I do believe it makes it more robotic and less human. Usually what I hear that happens is, a drummer screws up one kick drum beat and he does not want to redo the whole drums again...a lot of studios and musician around here do...

Please Help, one-man band looking for a vintage sound...Need a critique on this track

I agree completely with 4tracker...the first version is way more raw and soulful. I dig the vibe way better...it sounds amazing IMO. I dont think the guys meant that your mix was bad the way it was...it was just their vision about how it should sound. There is no right or wrong way to mix and...

    SM57 sounding too harsh.

Their first album was recorded with a Silverstone amp (dont remember which one) and I guess Jack had really few pedals back then.

    SM57 sounding too harsh.

I usually keep it at high gain levels for distortion. And it actually sounds saturated, but not as much as it sounds on the DAW when I'm mixing. If I put a condenser mic it already changes a lot (of course).

    SM57 sounding too harsh.

Hey everyone. I'm having trouble with miking my amp (Fender Blues Jr) and I'm wondering if its just me that finds the SM57 harsh as hell. If I place it right on the front of the speaker it sounds really saturated...and horrible sounding, IMO. Do you guys think is the amp or the mic, or a...

Results of "Live band recording" (few inputs).

Hey, guys. I recently started a thread at the recording session with the tittle above. I'm posting the results just so that you guys can make any comments you want about it. I had only 4 inputs. Me and a group of friends, we have a group that put up shows for local bands in a bar (like the...

    Live band recording (few inputs).

Hey everyone. I have a live band recording situation with few inputs on my interface. I've done similar stuff before...one mic for the whole band and a channel for the vocals. But in this case I placed the mic at one end of the room while the band grouped along the studio. Now, this band I'm...
