how do you mix vocals? do you mix it while the beat is playing or do you solo the vocals and try to get them to sound good and them add them to the beat?

I have a soundblaster audigy sound card and i was wondering should i set the line in recording volume on my windows mixer to 0db so that way i leave the volume of my recordings up to my preamp settings? i noticed when the volume is at 0db (no gain or decrease) the recording are real real low. so...

ok thanks. and now my second question is what if after i record and i switch the project settings back to 16 bit to mix (cause 24 bit setting takes up too much ram) will the sound still be better than regular 16bit if i render it as 16 bit?

i have a sound blaster audigy card that is 24-bit. i used acid to record. so if i change the setting to 24-bit instead of 16-bit does this mean i'm now recording at 24-bit or is there more to it? thanks

how loud should the volume be before you apply the final limiting when mastering?

i read somewhere that sometimes people use up to 10 different reverbs on just the lead vocals. why do they need 10 reverbs? and this producer posted up a hip hop song that he mixed a while back and said that he used 6 different reverbs on jus the lead vocals but the vocals sounded extremely dry...

what is a common setting for the threshold when mastering? i know it depends on the song but i was just wondering. is -23 for the threshold too extreme to use?

how do you bypass ambience when you're using it with automation because the plugin doesnt have a bypass when i try to use it with fx automation on acid pro?
