    are you suppose to record vocals in stereo or mono? i always record them in stereo but i dont know if thats the right way to do it. i use acid pro and they have no mono recording setting that is available all they have is stereo.

    i don't have any booth or anything to record in and i have a 100$ mixer. I don't think the mixer is too good. it's a yamaha mg10/2 and i have a shure ksm27 mic. i set up 3 matresses in my closet and put the mic in there to record. well i guess that's my booth but not a very good one.

    i have 2 questions. Before mastering, is it best to get the mix around the 0dbvu level, is that how loud it's suppose to be before the mastering stage? also when setting the threshold of a compressor, do i just set it to whatever the highest peak is?

    when i record in soundforge, i watch the vu scale and the peak scale and my peaks are getting to like -8 but the vu scale is not even reaching 0 it's only reaching like -7.
