I had a matched pair of NT5's that were about 6 or 7 years old. I called 'em up and asked how much it would cost to fix one them that suddenly lost its output.
They said "Send it in!"
I said "It's not covered under warranty anymore, how much is it gonna cost?"
They said "No worries matey...

You can do this two ways. The main way is to just turn off the "audition" button for the track that the vocals are being recorded to. In Cubase SX, this is the orange when lit button that is located next to the record enable (red) button; it has a speaker on it. When you hit record, which...
True Chili, but he does want something so he can get good vocals, and I would recommend finding something that supports phantom power. If he gets the Alpha, and then he wants to use a condeser mic, then he, like you said, would need to get a separate micpre with phantom power. I get what your...
Oh, and as far as the best vocal sound. Most mic pres that come built in with interfaces are clean good sounding pres. They're not state of the art SSL's or NEVE's, Avalons or Drawmers; there just clean plain mic pres that really do sound good, especially for your experience, it will be a good...
It looks like that Lexicon has 1 mic pre built in. You will see a gain knob on the front.
If I were you, get an interface that has a preamp built in. You new and its the easiest route. You don't want to mess with getting a preamp and interface separately. Look at m-audio and presonus...
Thats good info man! I should copy it and give you cred. when I help people out in other places. I got started out by getting a subscription to Computer Music, and then I moved to Recording. Those are great mags!
Oh, we have a nooooooooooob here.
Mellotron, love the name man, I'm a big fan of Portishead. You?
Yeah, the Axiom is just a controller, no sounds. Thats cool though, you have a lot of options. Yes, Cubase comes with a few VST instruments that you can use the Axiom to control via MIDI...
Whats your budget? Do you want to record more than two instruments at a time? Looks like not . . .
Your computer is fast enough, although I would maybe bump your RAM up a gig, if you can. When mixing and adding effects, you can have limited resources.
Interface - Yep, thats good. I like...
Most compressors have the same parameters, and some have extra bells and whistles. For a talking, PLEASE don't make it sound like the quintessential (sp?) JAM radio guys where it is compressed so much that you hear the smacking of their lips and every breath they take. Here's some basic ideas...
Recording isn't cheap, yet it isn't nearly as expensive as it was 2 decades, or even 8 years ago. You need to do your research, and save money.
If you, your friends, or your parents have a computer that can handle it, the cheapest route to take is getting some basic mics that you can use for...
What other instruments are you recording?
Do you need more mic's?
Are you planning on recording all the instruments at the same time, or atleast just the rhythm section (git, bass, drums)?
Look at a firewire interface (Presonus Firepod or FP10) instead of the multimix. I think with the...
I'll write more . . .
With the firepod, and any firewire interface, you can send as many tracks as the interface handles directy to your computer through one firewire cord, they will be all individual tracks so you can mix (balance) them as you like.
There are lots of ways to get audio to...
Shoop
If your mixers outputs are just the stereo outs, then no. If you have direct outs from your mixer, as in each track has a 1/4" jack specifically call "direct out" then you could do this with the delta 1010. The audiphile only does 2 tracks.
If you want to make it easy on yourself, look...
A wise forum poster once said, "A heated discussion on an internet forum is like running in the special olympics. Although you may win, your still retarded".
Sorry for being a little non-PC.
Removing vocals from a song is nearly impossible, its a myth. BUT, you can use EQ to lessen the vocals in songs by notching out certain frequencies. This will obviously hurt the audio and the song won't really sond right.
