I'd go for a Focusrite ISA-One preamp and a Shure SM7b with that kinda budget.
Both of these will hold better value on the used market when you come to sell at the end of the project than the other suggestions as well.
However, if your just doing one project... Just book a few hours in a local...
Anyone got any experience/tips for using the QY-sequencers?
I just bought a QY22 on eBay - kinda an impulse buy as I've been uming and ahhing over getting a beatstep pro (a very different sequencer I know) for a while to control synths and drum machines and jam with...
I regularly run my drum mix into my old Tascam and then resample back into Maschine when I want to really lowjack the vibe of my track... Puts a kinda grit on your drums that can't be obtained (at least as easy) using plugs.
I don't know why but getting things working is often down to the hub itself.
I've tried three different ones. The first was temperamental, the second, would not run my interface. The 3rd is bang on
I would have recommended getting a second hand SE2200 or second hand Rode NT2a and a new MKII Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 but I got here late.
I actually make hip hop and the SE is what I use currently - it's clean with plenty of body and none of the fizz (instead of air) you get with cheaper mics...
I had an Akai DPS12i - It was a long time ago and I don't fancy going back to that.
The only way you could get files from it was via SCUSI and it took about 5 million years.
You could MIDI sync it to your DAW and then track out but I suspect the preamps on your TonePort are 'at least' as good as...
Finally picked up a new axe for the kid.
He's made up with his Epiphone G400 (SG) in 'worn cherry'.
I got my own a couple days before Christmas, went with the Ibanez AS73-TBC in the end.
Exactly that - 8 bars is the most I ever need to play at a time! HipHop is my girl. She and my wife do not get along!!!
You're spot on re; delay - something I'm much more likely to use in post I reckon.
I'm definitely going for the EHX-720. Pretty basic but has a...
I appreciate that Jimi - my playing is nowhere near yours but I'm hoping to improve (hoping the looper helps in this!). I definitely take what you say on board!
I guess I'm just trying to have a few options so that the loops I can create don't sound stale (as well as badly played!)
Like I said -...
Personally, I'd avoid M-Audio... They seem to regularly abandon support for their product lines and to me that shows that they see them (and us as users) as disposable.
The MPK looks decent enough and Akai have been making good midi-boards for some time.
Desk real-estate is definitely an...
I'm picking up the looper pedal I discussed in another thread this week and I got a decent price on my ER-1 so looking at getting a couple more pedals.
Probably going to get an EHX East River Drive or Soul Food (I'm aware that they're fairly different - not fully decided which yet) and thinking...
I use a Kenton 5-thru - Have sequenced BS2 and Korg ER-1 (which I actually just sold) and Erebus (also sold on) while sync'ing to Circuit with Maschine as main sequencer simultaneously.
Never had any dropouts or anything remotely hinky that was related to the 5-T.
It's solid.
Thanks man (thanks everyone!)
I'm pretty much set on the EHX-720 right now... The Boss RC-30 does keep trying to pull me in but the more I read (Reddit has for once been quite useful) and hear the more I keep coming back to the EHX...
Having read more I've realised that the ability to store...
Sort of both... My attic is usually set-up and ready to go but with the kids going to bed I'm often down in the livingroom on a night and I tend to just grab a couple bits (Laptop and Maschine or circuit, maybe a drum machine) from the attic to noodle on... I have an acoustic in the attic and a...
