If you get an answer, remember to come back and post it. I'd like to hear what he says.

    AT4033 vs. MXL2003 (an unprofessional comparison )

Even if it's not scientific, it's still interesting. Gotta agree with you about the 4033 shock mount...it does suck. I would also like to box the mic when I'm not using it, but instead I have a felt bag with a silica pack in it that I tie over it on the stand.

    help!

No.... Not because it's analog, I don't want start THAT argument :), but because 4 tracks stuffed on to a 1/8" tape moving at a relatively slow speed isn't going to sound as good as digital or as good as larger format tape moving at a higher speed. But, you won't get digital or 2" tape for...

    help!

In that price range you're looking at a 4-track cassette deck, like a Tascam. You can get pretty decent quality out of them if 4 tracks is enough for you. If you need more than that the price goes up real fast.

    ESP LTD B-204

I bought one these the other night to replace my Squire P-Bass. http://www.espguitars.com/html/b204.htm I've had it for less than a week but, what a difference. I love this bass!!!

    I found a use for my BBE862!!!!

This is exactly why I never get rid of my old equipment. No matter how pathetic I think a device is, I always seem to find something that it can do fairly well. My Alesis NanoCompressor for example is a horribly disappointing piece of equipment for everything except bass guitar during tracking...

    Keeping Away Unwanted Visitors.

In my experience, Raid doesn't work unless you hit the little bastards directly. The best "bomb" I've ever found is called "Bengal Roach & Flea Fogger". It's more expensive than the others, but it works. http://www.bengal.com

    Keeping Away Unwanted Visitors.

Rattlers aren't particularly aggressive, they'll try to stay away from humans, but copperheads are VERY aggressive. That's why I use a shotgun, if you don't get 'em with the first shot they'll come after you. I once hit one with a .22, but didn't kill it, and had to run because it was coming...

    Keeping Away Unwanted Visitors.

Absolutely, Misterqcue !! I'm all for a living creature's right to live, but that ends when they invade my space. I live right next to lake, so snakes are also very common around my house. I let the non-venomous ones hang around, outside that is - because I don't need rodent problems either, but...

Guitar to haul around - everywhere

I have absolutely HATED every backpacker style guitar I've ever tried. I guess if size is a primary consideration then you might be able to get used to it. I have an Ovation Celebrity that I haul around with me. It doesn't sound great, but it plays well and the tone is acceptable. It's proven to...

    Keeping Away Unwanted Visitors.

I live in the country where multi-legged creatures are always a problem. I use a product called "Bug-Stop" that you can get at home improvement stores. I spray about once every 3 months, just like Dom says, and have no problems any more.

    What's with Behringer?

I just got a flyer last week from Guitar Satan saying that they are now going to be carrying Behringer products.

    PCs vs MAC

I've been in the computer business for 17 years and the MAC vs. PC debate has raged for as long as they've both been available. It's a debate that never seems to be won by either side. They both have their advantages and disavantages. As much as I hate to get involved in this topic, I'm just...

    Plug-ins......

Thanks for the replies! I've started messin' round with it a little and so far it looks okay. One more question: I haven't put down more than 4 tracks yet, so maybe you guys can save me some benchmarking. Does this run better on Win9x or NT?

    same

The reason that no one has answered is most likely that no one here has that same combination of equipment. With a little more info some one might be able to point you in the right direction. For instance, I'm not familiar with the Fostex, does it have aux sends or an effects loop? How about...

    Plug-ins......

Thanks Slack, What started this whole thing was, my employer decided to buy me a new PC for home. They aren't being generous, they'll get every penny back from late night and weekend support calls. But, it's a pretty nice system. It's a Dell 600Mhz, 256M Ram, 20+gIG hard drive, etc. So, I...

    Plug-ins......

I just downloaded and registered a copy of n-track yesterday. I do all my recording on ADAT but I wanted something decent to make MP3s with and to start exploring computer based recording. It looks pretty cool so far, but can someone fill me in on the plug-ins? Are there sources for free...

    E-200/RodeNT2/ShureKSM32/AT-4033???

Sort of been covered???? :) I can comment on two of them from personal experience, but not all four. I have a 4033 and a KSM32. If I had to pick one of the two, it would be the Shure. The reason is that I just like the way it sounds more than the 4033. But there ARE some times that the 4033...
