Hey Blue Bear!
Did you ever get a chance to compare pres for acoustic guitar and male vocals as you mentioned above? Which ones did you like?
Just curious....

What would a Neve 1272 mic pre be best suited for? Recording vocals, bass, electric guitar??
In particular : http://www.brentaverill.com/1272/
Also...anyone have an idea of how much more noise I would get from this unit after stacking more than 10 tracks...in comparson to the Great River...
yeah....I can't try both. That's why I posted here. I live in a third world country, France, where things like this aren't possible...
(well, as far as auditioning audio gear is concerned, it feels like a 3rd world country)
Channel: RODE NTK/Oktava mk012 -> Great River OR LDVC -> FMR RNC ->...
I'm going to buy one of these two units. I'll be tracking lots of vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar......everything except drums, bass and piano with the whichever unit I choose. I've read that the Great River ME-NV1 was specifically designed to produce a lower noise floor which would...
Whoa...
Interesting....the price of the DRS-1 at Mercenary just went up from $1050 to $1250 over the weekend. I've had my eye on it because it was in the same price range (actually $25 cheaper) as the Great River ME-NV1 and it has a HPF (the GR doesn't). I wonder why the price went up? That's a...
high pass filter on the Phoenix DRS-2 (or DRS-1)
Does anyone know the specs of that high pass filter? I can seem to find anything about it the freq cut-off....the only description I see is "on push button switch".
Also, is the Phoenix DRS-1 exactly the same as one channel of Phoenix...
the power transformer's no where near and cables or the pre...
Stranger yet...it seems to get a little worse after the unit's phantom power has been engaged for a few minutes....as if it needs to warm up......to hum.
...so I can assume no one else has had this problem. I feel pretty certain...
Thanks for the answer guys.
I think it know the what the problem is. I'm using a power transformer to "step down" the current from 220v to the DMP3s North American transformer. I've just ordered an EU verison of the transformer for 30 Euros. In theory though, the transformer SHOULD be...
When I engaged the phantom power (and crank the gain at about halfway) on my DMP3 I can hear a low level (and low freq) hum. It's barely audible, but after stacking a few tracks, it becomes more obvious....especially in quieter acoustic passages. When I use it without phantom power it's...
I recently purchased an RME Multiface/PCI card package and a Swissonic AD24 unit. Both have respectable clocks. The question is, which unit should I use as the Master to get the tightest possible connection?
At this time, these are the only two units I need to clock, so I can't really justify...
I realize the PCI card is based on the Hammerfall Project (it's ADAT in IS full 24 bit), but can anyone confirm that the ADAT input on the Multiface is full 24 bit also...and not only 20 bit? I can't think of why this would not be 24 bits, but you never know....unless you know.
I want to buy a...
Moderator: I'm not sure if this is ok or not, just let me know if it's a problem.
I have an AKAI MPC 2000XL (immaculate condition) that I'll sell for 650 Euros (approx $760 US). It's currently switched for European current, but can be switch to North American current. I'll throw in the Iomega...
