    lyricist needs paid gig

Sometimes you can hook up with the right people, but it takes WORK. I don't know if you're familiar with Rush, the band from Canada, but their first few albums were mediocre (sorry if I offend someone with that). Then Neil Peart, the new drummer came along. He wrote all the lyrics, and played...

    Yet Another Rap Tune

It's all about the song. I don't invest in expensive gear because my songs suck. If I had real talent I'd probably put more dinero into it.

new hard rock melodic song "The Travel song"

    Sounds great.

Please listen to: "We Love Chinese Ladies" Thanks

The song is "We Love Chinese Ladies." Just finished it even though I started on it over a year ago. The drums, which I no longer use, are electronic and sound like crap. They wre made using Fruity Loops. I now use samples which are recorded drums. Anyway, I'm more interested in what you...

    Cha Cha Heart

That was awesome! LOVE the sound. Great song too. Those guys are rockin'. Great beat, cool accents. And I agree: The English Parliament is a joke, like the U.S. Congress.

    Accurately Capturing Distorted/Chunky Guitar

Man, a Les Paul and a good amp don't need any processing at all. The seventies were right.

    Hey Jealousy

I don't know. I mean, you guys can obviously play the song, but the original shows more emotion. He feels what he's singing. Just my two cents (worth about 1.8 cents in Canada).

Real drums, but not me. I use a few different suppliers of drum loops, mostly Beta Monkey. Basically, I set the temp in my software (Guitar Tracks), import the drums, fills, etc. and modify the heck out of them. Add samples, etc. I've tried so many different drum sources (machines, software...

    Easy - Lionel Richie cover

My only suggestion is to drop all but one vocal on the verses. It's hard for us to enjoy our own voices, but we need to learn. You have a unique way of presenting that song. Enjoy your voice. Start dry and see how it goes. Then maybe add a little something to it. Just my two cents (which...

a very dense Queen style track.

Did I hear "chewing gum" and "Chuck-E-Cheese" in the lyrics? I've probably chewed on gum at that place before. I don't care much for the pizza, and their ranch dressing is deplorable, but some of the Chuck-E-Cheeses sell beer, and then it makes it a lot more enjoyable. Oh, and GREAT sound...

    New World Disorder

You have a great sound. Very full--very strong--very hot (in technical terms). You can definitely tell you're not using a crappy computer and cheap software like I.....uh.....a friend of mine uses. :o

The Boys Are Back In Town cover.

It was okay. I like the sound, actually, but what happened to the versus? The versus are good too, not just the chorus. You're doing a great job. This is the kind of stuff that would be at a party, and if I was having a good time (you know what I mean) then I would be trippin' out on those...

    Crazy Days in the CIA

That's good or bad, depending on how I cam about the melody in the chorus. Hope I didn't accidentally snag it from another. I don't think so, though. Just sat on the couch with the guitar playing and having fun.

My first instrumental that I'm really proud of. Jazz, easy listening, but with a beat. Drums, bass, guitars. That's it. Enjoy and feel free to critisize, compliment, dissect, slam, flame, tame, chop, modify, etc. Thanks Mike (the surfer) http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6695565

    Crazy Days in the CIA

New song of mine (my second complete instrumental that I'm proud of). It's kind of jazz, but could have lyrics and vocals if someone more creative than I am could do it. Feel free to comment, critisize, hail, slam, chop and modify. Mike (the surfer)...

Band wishing to record and sound GOOD

Before you begin to record, make sure your drummer can play to a clicktrack (or metrenome). If he can't keep tight to a clicktrack, you simply won't be successful in the studio unless you sound tight as a band under pretty much any circumstances.

    very basic recording setup?

You can even go to Best Buy and get an MAudio usb interface to record. Your Shure 57 should be fine for voicing over Karaoke.

Beta Monkey is the best. That's what I use.

Les Paul is hard to beat. Only a Carvin comes close.
