Really need a guitar solo for this one. Have been able to do some fakery for my other tracks, but if anyone is interested????
I think the mix is close, but there's some odd mud I've not identified yet, and what-not. Need to spend some more time making the scape, too. Anyway, let me know what...
Thanks for trying Gerry!
IBB-Thanks for listening. Agreed. I've been whittling away at that percussion track and I think I'm just going to practically kick the timbales out. Just do a simple pattern for most of the song and let the other pieces that are left do the accents...There are two snares...
Five song compilation. Hoping these are REALLY close. Selah needs some retakes on the piano part...but interested in the overall mix. Trying to keep these viable for an "album" concept. SO, the main things I'm interested in are OBVIOUS bad things: pops and clicks I missed, vocals are way to...
:thumbs up:
Excellent mix and very nice performances. I hate to say this, but I hear one of the lower strings on the steel is a little out of tune....is that just me?
Everything else is premier!
I find the harder the song (toward the rock spectrum) the more I compress the bass. It just sounds better that way. Mellower tunes or country/folk - ish tunes I write have a lot more dynamic in the bass tracks.
You never cease to amaze me. Incredible talent you have. I think I've already told...
I'd like to learn a few of those chords, Chad. Pretty nice playing. Course with my hands, it just wouldn't make a difference...To quote our president, they're YUGE! I play an E chord with two fingers and an A with one. C and D are just REALLY hard. Barres are my normal and it makes acoustic...
:laughings: Three little Pigs :laughings:
Sounds really good! That harmonica sounds REALLY clear. Good placement.
I could go with a little more bite on the higher bass notes. Good tone, but it loses (and this will sound strange) a lot of bottom on the upper notes.
I'd like to hear another dB...
:) I've gotten a few great ideas by sitting in service taking notes on the sermon. Sometimes it's just being where God wants you to be at the right time, yeah?
Two different cables, two different mikes, same result: Probably not the problem.
PG48 is dynamic, so not from loss of phantom power.
Does the line in work for line and guitar? Possible the output of the core 1 is not performing correctly?
If not:
Can you borrow a working interface from someone...
I get Wednesday off this week...had to use Saturday to rebuild the master bath throne (technically a day off, but no time for what I want...) Fun project, pull the toilet, tear out the tile, cut out the bad flooring, spray the mold, attach new joists to support the new floor, reassemble. Took 9...
No time off since Wednesday. I'll look at this as soon as I get some...
Armistice: Yeah, been pointed out. Looking at doing some autotune on it. Don't know if one string was out of tune by the time I got a decent take, or what, but I'm not much of a guitar player, so that's comped from about 50...
Whatever floats you boat. If you think it's worth trying, and there's little expense, why not? I built diffusers for my back wall after I had my primaries and clouds up and I like what it does for the room. My liking it may be because I put a lot of time into it more than any actual benefit to...
Thanks Gerry! I still think the vocals are a bit too far forward...by comping, do you mean compression, or pick a take that had a better note? Maybe I could stick it in Melodyne and move that one note closer to pitch?
Keith - Thanks for the listen, man! Glad you like the tune. Really glad someone likes the trumpet part! Compressed the vocals to death (11:1) and yeah, they still stick out a bit even though I turned them down. Would really help if I knew if you were listening to the original or second mix...
I listen to a lot of Salvador and the percussion and horns are just par for their music. Never really cared for Santana (not that the music isn't amazing, I just never got into it...)
I love a good, detailed critique. There are VERY few cymbals in the song. I think, maybe 8 or 10 hits in the...
Okay, here are all the changes we talked about. (Haven't retracked the vocals at the first, yet)
Pulled out some reverb. But pushed a bit harder with the echo.
Reworked the bottom end
Pumped 5K life into both snares. Got rid of a bunch of percussion going on + increased the kick in the choruses...
Guitar Center just pushed me over the edge. Sent me a 20% off coupon...waiting for the Melodyne download code. :( :)
Really couldn't afford it, but for $170 for Assistant (which does everything I need) it was really hard to pass up. Medical bills will be a little longer getting paid...
