Could I use a TASCAM DR-40 for this?

Hi Friends, I want to record vocals over a backing track on my MacPro Tower (2009). I would also like to be able to capture live performances at church, and occasionally take a line out from my POD HD 500x to record my guitar during performances. I have an AT 3035 condenser mic to use for...

    Stereo Panning in Samplitude

Re: It is an Art! Are you talking about panning a single mono track right or left, or panning two mono tracks, one to the left and one to the right? Thanks

    Stereo Panning in Samplitude

Thanks for your reply, Tmix. I'm using version 6.0. I'm using the Aardvark Direct Pro, so I can record with a mono or stereo source. I'm new to the whole process, but I read a post talking about giving each instrument it's own 'space' in the mix. I've messed around in Cakewalk, where I had 2...

    Stereo Panning in Samplitude

Hi all, I want to be able to control the panning of my bass & guitar in stereo. After recording my guitar track, do I need to clone or copy that track into another track so that I can control the right/left panning? For some reason, I'm having a hard time doing this. What's the best way...

Giving each instrument 'it's own space'?

What if I'm not using a mic? What if I'm running my guitar/bass through a V-amp2(I can't mic my amp @ 5 am)? This is good stuff, keep it coming! Thanks, BG

Giving each instrument 'it's own space'?

I read somebody talking about a good mix giving each instrument it's own space. Is this done strictly through EQ? If so, how? What are other methods of giving each instruments their own space? Thanks, Brad Graber

How hot should the track be recorded?

Question for Argo Argo, Your last two posts were extremely helpful, however, I'm a newbie, and I'm using Pro Audio 9. How would I give each track it's own space using Pro Audio 9? Does Pro Audio 9 have a spectrum analyzer? Thanks, Brad Graber

How do you do it in Samplitude?

Thanks for the tip. Here's another ignorant question: how do you change the tempo with the metronome? I jerked with all of the metronome parameters, but there was no change. Thanks

How do you do it in Samplitude?

Hi y'all, I've got the latest demo version of Samplitude. Do I have to create a click track in Acid or Fruity Loops, and then import them as wave files into Samplitude, or what? What's the best way(order) to do drums, bass, guitar in Samplitude? Also, I recorded a singe channel...

AT 3035 and what other Mic?

Thanks, I'll try that. Ok, here's a question that will expose my extreme ignorance: Should my AT 3035 be positioned vertically instead of pointing directly at the amp? Thanks.

    New software, any suggestions?

I think I'm sold on Samplitude too, but I can't get a straight answer on how much it costs(Samplitude studio). Their website lists everything in Euros. Is their website the only place you can buy it? I can't seem to find it anywhere else.

    Keyboard for drums?

I was going to get a drum machine, but I thought todays keyboards probably have good enough drum sounds in them. I'm thinking about the Roland RS-5 or RS-9. Any advice? Thanks

AT 3035 and what other Mic?

I'm running my AT 3035 into an Aardvark DirectPro, which has phantom power and mic pre's built in. I miked the cab, about 6 inches just off center, and it sounded too bassy. what is the recommended distance to place a mic from the cab? I haven't had time to experiment too much. I'll...

AT 3035 and what other Mic?

Hey all, As stated in the Subject heading, I've got an AT 3035, and I want to get a second mic to compliment it. I've read a lot of threads about miking an acoustice with 2 mics. What would a good 2nd mic be? I read about the Marshall mxl v93, but I don't know if it would be too similar...

    Tips for Recording Distorted Guitar?

Do you mean use a compression pedal before the distortion w/ my amp? I've got a Boss CS-5, so I could use that. I did mic my amp this morning(w/o waking anybody up), and it was a night and day difference from taking the line out. Line out sounded thin and fuzzy. I'm going to experiment with...
