Trying to set up a modest home studio

I'd try Korg Electribe ER1-MKII... its fantasticlly durable - you can use to for anything - loads of fanstatic beats built in, but making your own is seriously simple..... 'tis a great machine - it'll set you back only around £200

    3 mic drum setup

Im not really an expert.. but if i was you I'd use a nice kick mic in the bassdrum (AKG dymanic?) and then have one mic on (not touching the head) the snare (Shure SM57?) and then one overhead. I think you need phantom powering for condensers (???) which i doubt the 424 will have....

    Solved grohl or disturbs drummer

Re: ok ok ok just because someone uses fancy fills doesnt make them "good". A good drummer plays well with the music, Meg does exactly what she needs to do considering what she plays.... fancy chops wouldnt suit their music in the same way that Meg wouldn't sound good in Nirvana, or...

    Don't beat me up...

I'd get a drum machine - a descent one like.. Korg Electribal series or something... completely pro sounds and some amazing beats. I'm a drummer and I use it in my band to do some rock/electonica crossover stuff and it works great. Really simple to use.... Failing that hire a real drummer

cheers :) recording today so i think gonna have to go with one 58 overhead, one 58 in the kick and just tune the kit to make it sound amazing. [I'm gonna need the other 6 tracks for the other instruments - we are a only three piece but we need two vocal tracks and two guitar tracks and a bass...
