So, since i'm a bit behind on pc building, what processor speed is that?
And, only 1gb of ram is enough?
Will that be enough for 32 tracks at once, plus at least 40 midi tracks?
peace
altitude909, thanks for the reply. Sorry, for not answering sooner, but I went to work for a cpl of hrs.
Anyway, my budget for motherboard, processer, and ram is $500.00. Thats only for those three. I'm not worried about case, hd's ( which I plan on 2 200gb hd. 1 for primary recording, 2nd for...
I've been using Cubase 3.7 for years. Started out with purchasing 3.5, then upgrading with the 3.6 then 3.7 upgrade.
I recently found out that my original 3.5 cd disk is cracked and either trying to find another copy of 3.5, or just upgrading to SX or Protools.
I played around with sx 1.0 for...
Cubase VST.
I have a question. I've been recording for years with Cubase VST. I opened my studio for hire about a year ago now, and would like to go with Protools Le with a Digi002. Heres my question. Which type of computer?
I know that you guys, that know Protools, well are going to say go...
LOL, thats funny. but to the guy with the stuff on his paltop,
1. What speed/memory laptop and brand do u have
2. what are u using for a sequencer
3. what are you using for soft synths (meaning synth and general piano, bass, guitar, etc sounds)
4. are you using a oxygen 8 for traveling...
I forgot to add....................
I also forgot:
8. Giga Studio 32 (On a PC dedicated to just Giga )
* Being used as: 16 tracks of drums at all times. In other words,
Tracks 1 Kicks (Across 61 keys)
2 Kicks (Across 61 keys)
3 Kicks (Across 61 keys)...
Heres the Deal.....I had both, just traded them in yesterday at Rogue Music (www.roguemusic.com) I love them both. The tg-77 is a spin off of the sy-77 (similar to the sy-99 used in the Boys 2 Men "end of the road" album) which is great for Electric pianos and Pianos, imo nothing much more. The...
Anyone know if you can stack/run 2 vs-1680's together to get 32 tracks? if so how?

I was at the Guitar center the other day and there sell, ing a Mac G5 for $3000. I know that Macs vs PC's for audio are better, hands down...period.
But Dam, it came with a price tag of $3000.
I put this PC together virtually from Newegg.com

anyone want to tackle this one?
I just dont have the time.
PS,
I'm wondering Bear if he means from the mic to the preamp to the mixer inputs.
No need to induce any more noise if you don't have to.
At that point, where to position the trim knobs.
I say, if thats the case, bypass the mixer...
If you dont mind buying a used piece, if you look...you might find a roland xp-60 in that range, i've seen them before.
Another choice that isnt too hard to find is a roland jv-90
Looks like someone is a little over zealous. But its all good, I have a nut sometimes when i get a good deal.....like my Triton rack brand new for 850.00.....3 months after it first came out....shhhh, i wont tell where or how, its my little secret.
As far as synths go, All I have is a Roland JD-990, Yamaha TG-77.
Mind you they are very good for digital synths, but I have a few clients that are doing club-rap, kinda like the old C&C music factory, and Snap. So a Virtaul Analog is what I'm looking for.
Don't get me wrong, I love synths...
I am interested in a synth, newish. I have some old stuff already.
Preferable rackmount is what I'm looking for, since I've run out of space in my studio and still have a place for clients to sit.
Pick from the following:
Clavia Nord Lead 2
Roland JP-8080
Waldorf Q Rack
Yamaha CS6R
Korg...
i would recomend a Roland xp-60 (under a grand), Korg m1 (under a grand), Korg trinity ($1000-$1100)
all of these pieces will be used, not new.
Good luck
I am going to either purchase a Akai s3000xl or a Planet Phatt. both are the same price. I cant make up my mind, but Im gonna buy it friday. The sounds are great in the planet phatt, however, your limited to the sounds in it.
On the other hand, the akai s3000xl is endless as far as sound...
