Thanks to everyone for good advice! For the time being, I may make do with the adaptor, because I have to do everything in the confines of my "control room" ( - control is an illusion - ). If you walk two steps in any direction, you hit a wall. . .
So no cord is too short. . .:D

My studio is still going through birth pangs -- its downsides are that it's small (about 6' x 9', with a 7' ceiling), and I haven't got anyplace to use for isolation (yet). Its upsides are that it's really well-insulated, and everything pretty much fits into it (as long as I put it on one leg...
A shot in the dark. If you're looking for a "preset" style synthesizer with good quality sounds, and a lot of them, I'd recommend one of the Yamaha DGX series. I've got their 73 note DGX synth, and I still haven't used up its potential (and that's without even starting to do signal processing...
I agree with what appears to be the general opinion here; I'd bring up the vocals a bit, and maybe, but only just maybe drop the guitars back. Raising the vocals might just do it by itself. Good song, good tracks!

MUCH better. More clarity and punch from the rhythm section, and less collision between guitar and vocal (which were trying to fit into the same space). I think it was a good idea to move the vocal farther out front. Good vocal quality, good song. Sounds like progress to me. . .
I'm just a noob here, but I agree pretty much with the observations by Jimmy and Gecko. Part of the problem you're having may be similar to what I've been experiencing in setting up my studio. I'm still tweaking the room (bass traps are on the way), I don't know how flat my monitors are, and I...
