ecktronic, you still haven't told me what exactly I can improve or what is downright bad and why. I'm new at this as alot of people on this board are and would like more input than: thats a bad mix. I apriciate the critizism but in order to improve I need to have details in it. -thanks

    oppinions on my first mix/master

I recorded this the other day and did my best shot at mixing and mastering. It is my schools summer jazz band program. What do you think? My only real gripe is that I had a monkey for an assistent engineer, and I quote "Ryan WTF the silver side of the D-112 points towards the scource! why did...

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

I don't know, In my time recording, which other people maybe including you have more experience, I have heard the sm57 sound decent, fine, maybe even good, but never great. If you can some howProve me wrong, then by all means do so. Don't take this the wrong way I really do apreciate the help by...

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

So this is the one you are talking about, cave? If so that could be a viable option. Placement shouldnt be too much of a problem on my set and getting rid of the hats would be a dream come true! If I had the cash (or some one had one willing to sell cheep) I would spring for an md421 or md441...

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

earworm, you should try using a d112 (or the like) for a harder sounding guitar sound. I love it for backing guitars, but it seems lacking in the highs for lead. If you ever get a chance to record some guitar with the m201 put it up I'd like to hear it. For the people who have voted and have...

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

Thats interesting you use another mic to get the response of your recording clooser to flat is that correct? If that was the case it would make sense that the m201 would sound good on guitar as its response while close micing accentuates only the lows. For refference:Beyer Dynamic

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

If you dont like the sound of the e609, pdadda, what do you? With now 5 votes on the m201 I'm starting to wonder about it. It just doesnt seem like it would be very flattering on guitar with the neer flat response that it has.

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

I see that a few (4 at the time) have voted for the m201, so you all think that it will work just fine on guitar as well? David thanks for the reply have you tried your e609 on snare as well? I'm curious to see if any one has tried this.

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

I'm in need of a new mic to handle my guitar cab and snare duties, because I am sick of the terrible hat bleed of the 57 and don't perticularly care for it on guitar. Now I know the m201 is one of the best for snare and have considered snaging one from full compass, my next mic either needs to...

Where do you keep your mics?

Dito above... exept I don't have enough mics to fit in a four drawer file cabinet, so I have a two drawer. (although in those two drawers there are over $15,000 worth of mics [a pair of u87s and a pair of royers and a triplet of 414s add up fast ;))

    An arsenal of dynamics!!!

I'm planning to purchase a M201 soon for snare, could that also handle guitar duities as well vs sm57? Another option would be a MD421 for both. Thanks for any input ahead of time! :D

Analog musings from Sound on Sound Mag

Pardon me if I am Hijacking this thread, but after I read that artical, I went upstairs, dusted off my old Sony 2 track 1/4 inch reel to reel and played some of my dad's old recordings, that he made at around my age (16). I loved the way everything sounded much "warmer" as described in the...

    Newbie with room set up

woops, I thought that by wall treatment it was infering ripping down the walls and rebuilding them. Well if you ment hanging those pannels that seems feasible, once in the budget. Now would the best thing to do would be to search on where to place these 703 pannels? Any...

    Newbie with room set up

Will do thanks for the tip. Yes, there are windows behind the curtains. The two on the back wall are french door style, while the one on the right hand side is a regular window. I dont think I can do wall treatment because the walls arnt like most walls they are: cement, air, cement held up...
