    Not Thinking

That sounds pretty commercial. Maybe some different drum sounds might give it a bit more flavor, the ones on there sound fine, but very artificial. Sometimes artificial sounding drums hits the spot and works here, but maybe a more realistic sounding drum might give the song more authenticity...

A few tweaks. My one major concern is, is this too bright?

Thanks for the listen/feedback. My first swing was to see if I could get a decent balanced mix and to check how the translation is working. There are a few areas that need major tweaking. Intro being the first, and then to your point, the finer details of the mix. Thanks for the input.

I will be honest, that is my UBX and I was cautious about being too aggressive with it. Ya know, like make everyone look at your new shoes ;) Thanks a bunch for the listen and feedback.

OK, after hearing so many cool techno songs, I had to give it a shot. Drums - Canned SD2 - I don't do much with them, just drive the beat and the groove is from the box. DI LTD EG on Right side/Cheap Amazon Strat on Right- Waves Amp sim on both. Plugin on the Pianoish sound from Ableton Plugin...

Weightless - Remastered version - Minimal Techno

I like that bass(base) sound. One of the nicer synth bass sounds I have heard. As much as I like it, I really think you should figure how to change it without radically altering its purpose. I would say, if you play guitar or can mimic a quick (3.5K or above) cut in at short bursts with some...

    Look - (Rock electronica)

Other than that what sounds like a snare (I don't think it is, but it is used as one) has a bit of harshness, pull that down a touch. I liked it very much. Hopefully some of the other techno guys listen and are inspired to be more adventurous. very good composition, arrangement and mix!

    Zillionaires

I don't hear anything close to 60's. I do hear 90's with a 60's vibe. IMO, bring the bass, and keys down so that the vocals can ride over top. Give it a tad of air, I think it would work very nice. Not a bad little tune, little tweaking on the mix and would only improve it from good to better. (y)

A question from a german songwriter

I think is sounded fine. I don't 100% agree about the German. A couple of examples: The style you are singing is very reminiscent of these songs.

"May Angels Guide" - technology check

After reading of all the things that were done in the studio from the 60's on, nothing to me is out of bounds. Making it sound good is the only criteria. 80's really ratcheted up synths and drum machines were used a lot during that decade. I am no longer in the purist camp, because it didn't...

“Waterfall” – New Minimal Techno Track 2025

IMO - you stay with the drum pattern too long. You really should try and sequence your own drum patterns and break it up. I think as accomplished as you are, you would start to take it up a notch. Start pushing boundaries. The nice thing about this hobby is, we get to take chances. I have a...

    Manslick - NSFW - the F word - beware

Vocals closer to the music? They cut through really well.

Thoughts on vocal tuning/heavy editing and an interesting analogy (I think)

I would remove the word practice and just say, "doing". I say that in reference to when the Beatles went to Hamburg and played like 6 days a week, plus a matinee. My understanding is that is what tightened them up so much, "doing". For me, I know the more that I do, the better I get at doing it...

    "Feeling Low"

I was just reading about our favorite live albums from the 70's. Much studio trickery!

    Limiting opinion survey

I like the first one better, but like how the highs are tamed on the second. I am guessing in the 3-5K range, I seem to have an issue with that range and I don't hear (harshness???) it as much on most of the popular music I listen too. First one is the overall better sounding to my ears.

    "Feeling Low"

I think you could put a bit more bottom in it (I would guess 100iss - 200ish), not a lot. It sounds really good as is, but I think a little more floor would really make good even better. (A pinch of salt)

    Rock On v2

@Bulls Hit I was reading your comments, I think I can put my finger on what my issue is with it. Your bass needs a little more top. 300-400 maybe to give it more definition. At least that is what I am thinking. It could be the bass might need to be played higher on the neck? Not saying I know...

Cover of "Reflections" by TWO LANES on the Waldorf Iridium Core synthesizer

I just purchased a UBX and starting to learn more about hardware synths. I like what you did here. More questions than comments. The tone at 7 seconds, which is carried throughout the song, sounded to me somewhat harsh for the composition. Same way for some of the lower parts. To my ears at...

    Mixing at the Source

This is what has led me to thinking about the topic. Sound and its placement. Recording quality (capturing) is important, but as most will say, "If it sounds good...". Which is the crux of the point. I think it is less subjective than we want to admit. If you know where you want an instrument...
