There are distinctions between Patent, Copyright and Trademark.
A Trademark is a design or phrase that is an identifier, like the Neumann square with their name down the middle, or Coke, or Gibson's open book headstock. They can be indefinitely held as long as you do period registrations...
I made copies on both DVD and USB flash drive. Copies were given to each of my siblings. From there, they can be transferred to any device they like, have 10 more copies made if they want.
They are far more "permanent" than the 7inch reels of audio tape (one copy) or 8mm films that were...
The ones with the "red squares" are clearly altered photos. Some have part of the Neumann name blacked out, but not all of it. But by definition, there's a distinct difference between a true counterfeit and a similar look.
But whatever... this horse has been beaten to death.
Don't buy...
If you pay attention to the posted video, the employee is not even talking about a mic similar to the one reviewed. He didn't bother with the KETS mic in the upper corner. His example is a mic that is clearly labeled as Neumann, has the logo, etc. THIS IS THE FAKE TLM103. Notice the logo...
RE: Audacity
This is perfect situation for using Audacity. Editing is very easy. You can edit out any extraneous bits. You aren't trying to synchronize multiple tracks like a typical music recording would demand. You also won't need extensive plugin support. Audacity comes with lots of...
For simple voice recordings, I think a 320K MP3 should be more than sufficient. What you will get with the recording setup is worlds better than the recordings that I got when my father passed away. When we were kids in the 1950s, he bought a reel to reel recorder. It came with a crystal...
In any case, I'm still anxiously awaiting Papa's comparison. Specifically, I am wondering about things like noise level (the TLM103 is supposed to be quiet).
That is true. It's government run "capitalism". When you have 1.4 billion people to feed and keep happy, you subsidize whatever is needed to keep things going.
Our company had a chemical manufacturing plant in China that was built by a another company before we bought that division. They...
After doing product development work for about 30 of my 42 years in the lab, I found that there are very few things that can't be replicated, if someone is willing to invest the time effort and equipment to do the job properly.
Our purchasing department would send in a product that was "just...
I get together with one friend who has a setup in his room with an ART Headamp6 Pro. The nice thing about this is that is has separate tone, volume and balance controls for each channel. Since a few of us use different headphones, it helps out a lot. If I was having people over on a...
Ok, then by your definition, the Warm WA87, Stam SA87i, Dachman DA87i, Seranno 87, Peluso P87 and MXL V87 are all counterfeits. How about the UT Twin87? It doesn't look like the U87 but uses 87 in the name and is clearly marketed as a U87 clone?
I did. That is where the photo came from. So ignore the picture of the actual item? Where does it say Neumann, or TLM103 on the actual microphone?
Now, I'll agree that there are others that actually show pictures of a Neumann with a bit of photoshop work to blank out the logo or part...
It's not counterfeit, as it's A) not marked Neumann and B) not labeled TLM103. The mic is clearly marked as KETS, and the model number on the mic is CV-103. Thats no more counterfeit than a Warm WA87 or Stam SA-87.
Eclipse,
I haven't tried using BlueTooth headphones for any recording. I have earbuds that I used for listening to sound from my cell phone, but have 4 pairs of wired headphones for recording. I've also got an ART HeadAmp5 for the times when I needed 2 or 3 headphones. I also have 4 10ft...
I have a 4 TB USB drive on my computer, and after I do anything significant, I copy the updated directories to the USB drive for backup. It might take 2 or 3 minutes at most. I also put copies of any program install files on that drive.
Well, QC could suck so that it sounds nothing like Robs, or it could have horrible hiss, in which case you can just save it to use it as a prop in the next video of a band playing in a rain storm! 🌧️
