Which format for broadcasting etc wav or mp3

If you are burning actual audio CDRs, then you need 16bit/44.1kHz WAV files. That is the standard Red Book CD specification. If you are having actual CDs pressed, you'll need to get an ISRC code. Your CD mastering house should be able to handle that. I use a program called CDBurnerXP...

    Your nostalgic gear...

You've never seen a Leslie in person?!?! You've missed one of the great sounds in rock music. Back in the late 60s/early 70s, there were several local bands where the keyboard player had a B3 and a pair of stacked Leslie cabinets. It was the only way the organ could keep up with the big...

I would nix the tablet and get a real laptop. Others will say they are fine, but I find tablets and phones a pain to work on. I have a tablet, and I use it to play movies or music when I'm on a plane or in a hotel. My phone is for making calls, some texts, and occasionally watch a few...

    Sound

It depends on what you are trying to do. You have two tracks and a pan control that can place them anywhere from 100% left to 100% right. Are you trying to do a "one take" recording of guitar and vocal? Are you recording vocals and guitar separately? When I mixed Michael's track, I put...

    Your nostalgic gear...

I don't know how I would classify my nostalgic gear. I have the first pair of stereo speakers (Marantz 5G) and Sony turntable from the early 70s. I revived the Sony receiver from '73 with new caps. I have all the gear from my "new" stereo from 1980 (IMF speakers, Bryston amp, Rega TT...

    Sound

For me, it depends entirely on the source. When you're recording an ensemble and you want a stereo recording, it's two mics into individual channels, each one a mono channel. You then mix and balance to get the spacing, or sound field you want. An acoustic guitar should be a relatively...

    Sound

It's not just the spaces that make things sound different. As much as people go on about differences in amps, preamps, interfaces etc, I have found that the biggest variations come from two elements, and they are at both ends of the signal chain. Microphones and speakers convert energy...

    Can you ID this mic?

I've seen Li3D for a while. I think they started their Youtube videos 3 years ago. The On My Own video was released about a year ago, so it's was far before their upcoming concert. They do have a Patreon channel where they apparently do some "behind the scenes" videos. I'm not a...

Any such thing as reliable one-click software to fix digitized LP recordings?

I really only bothered to transfer albums that are not available via CD, etc. like some of my old Nautilus and Sheffield records that were limited number pressings and some other records that are long out of print. Direct to Disc albums were usually limited pressings of several thousand since...

Just picked up this Tascam Corporation Model 10 – anyone here familiar with it?

If you put a cable (a simple guitar cord would work) between the send and receive and lost signal the something isn't right. The only way to know is to look at the jacks themselves and check continuity first from the various points. Normalling jacks have a contact that connects the signal...

Just picked up this Tascam Corporation Model 10 – anyone here familiar with it?

If I'm not mistaken, don't the send/receives need to be jumped for the signal path to be complete? Otherwise there's no reason for Tascam to supply the jumpers. If that's the case, then either you need to make jumpers or the jacks need to be normalling to complete the signal path, as...

Just picked up this Tascam Corporation Model 10 – anyone here familiar with it?

It's highly likely that the jacks were changed. Looking at an old Model 10 listed on Reverb from a year back, you can clearly see the RCA jacks and the jumpers that Tascam often used. You only needed to connect the signal lines since the grounds would already be connected.

    Silly phantom power question

Mackie specifies 48v. There's a possibility that it might partially work with15v, but likely you will run into distortion, as the phantom power actually powers amplifying circuit which changes the impedance and boost the signal from the capsule. It also provides the polarization voltage that...

    New Members: Introduce Yourself Here!

Welcome aboard, Bill. Like you, I took a long time off but when the bug bit me again, it got me good. I found a whole new world of recording that is far better than I ever got in the old days. I think "budget equipment" these days is massively better than it was 30-40 yrs ago. A...

8 kHz static noise in my audio recordings

Simply not true! I used one of these cable with my $120 inkjet printer and found that the colors were 64% more saturated and true to life, the text was 47% sharper and there were 94% fewer misspellings in my documents by eliminating the RF interference of the digit being transmitted! When...

    Why is activation so HARD!

I don't know that it's a Mac/Windows thing. Other than the fact that I upgraded the OS, the rest of the system is the same. If the authentication is tied to the OS then upgrading can potentially kill it off. I had the serial number, but it said it was in use by "another user". No, it was...

    FX continues ringing

If he's using ReaDelay, it's really easy to set it for infinite repeats. Increase the Feedback high enough and it will repeat forever instead of fading away as one would expect.

    Why is activation so HARD!

Tonight I decided to spend some time working on a project. I got to the stage where I thought some adjustment on the main bus would work for a better master. I have had a copy of Ozone 9 elements on my system since 2020. I don't use it much but I thought I would see if it gave me any...

Any such thing as reliable one-click software to fix digitized LP recordings?

Probably best you run the demo versions. Unless you know that it works, it's silly to blow money on something totally unknown.

Any such thing as reliable one-click software to fix digitized LP recordings?

I tried a few free programs. None was great, I did a fair amount of manual removal on a couple of albums. Audacity has some tools, but I felt they were mediocre. There are several commercial ones, some with trial periods.... VinylStudio, Izotrope Rx, ClickRepair are a few. I think I...
