    Short little acoustic ditty

Yeah, I'm in no way a "djembe player." I've learned a few basic things, but that's it. I only miked the top.

    Short little acoustic ditty

RFR: Thanks! Yeah, figured I needed to get out of that time-suck (Prime Time) and actually accomplish something! ? Spantini: Thank you! I'm still learning the ins and outs, but I'm diggin' S1 so far (as much as I can dig a DAW, anyway). ? LogicLover: Thanks for the listen and the kind words...

    Buffalo Springfield cover, constructive criticism???

Nice job overall. One clam at the end of the guitar solo. My one comment is that much of it sounds too wet in general, which is contributing to a kind of muddiness a bit, IMO.

    Wurmhole revisited

You can? Wow ... You've got a better ear than me! ? At two minutes end, I'm still batting 0% with understanding a word!

    Bit like Breathe

I really like a lot of the sounds that you're getting - very cool. The utter disregard for the timing in a lot of it got on my nerves a bit, though. ?

    Short little acoustic ditty

Lazer: Thanks! Talisman: Thank you. I normally record with analog, but I've used digital in the past because of my work. I used Reaper before this, but I recently switched to Studio One after I got it for free (through work) and I watched some tutorials and liked the way it looked. I like it so...

    Short little acoustic ditty

I'm just learning how to use Studio One, so I recorded this little tiny acoustic piece. I imagine it in a fantasy movie show or film. Anything jump out at you? Thanks

Würmhole - Trying out some new delays on latest POD Go firmware update

As a recording, it sounds really good. I don't have any suggestions in that regard. As a composition/arrangement, however, it's way longer than it needs to be, IMHO. I found myself fast-forwarding after the second time through the form, looking for a change. The change that showed up around the...

By The Ocean | Unfinished Demo | Looking For Feedback |

Sounds fine to me. I don't really have any nits. I'm curious about a few things, as this is not my genre. Please know I'm not being a smartass or anything; I'm genuinely curious. So ... what is the purpose of this music? Is it meant to be incidental music, maybe, for a instructional YouTube...

    Analog documentary

TalismanRich: That's my whole point. I don't think a movie like Cassablanca would be made today ... with the same sets, etc. IMO, it's foolish to try and separate the art from the tools. One absolutely affects the other. 1. It's simply not possible to do many things with certainly...

    Analog documentary

It's certainly moving that way! And I don't mean that in jest at all. It's just about as "paint-by-numbers" as you can make it these days. I mean ... several DAWs will already create an entire "song" for you once you give them some basic parameters like key, tempo, style, sound palette, etc...

    Analog documentary

Just watched it over lunch. Aside from the male vocals through most of it, which I found grating, I enjoyed it. TalismanRich: I don't think anyone is truly claiming that you can't do something in digital the way you can with tape. It's just that the two methods typically result in very...

I just saw this post and haven't seen the documentary. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for sharing!

How to configure a Fostex R8 to slave from a DAW

If it can slave to another machine, that's news to me. I always thought it needed to be the master and the DAW the slave.

What Is It That Compells Me…

Thanks for the story, Cory. I can relate to a degree. I certainly don't have the aptitude and experience you have, but I have spent a good amount of time fixing up analog machines. I'm curious ... what does Mrs. Sweetbeats think of it? Does it cause any friction?

'The Box' and me are not friends

I had a Yamaha AW16G around 2006 to 2010 or so. I really loved it actually; I thought the workflow was really nice, and I always liked the sounds I got on it. I totally know what you mean about wanting to get out of the box. If I ever end up ditching analog for good (which I've thought about...

Advice on a windows laptop to buy for music composition by a hobbyist musician

When you say "music composition," are you talking about recording music, or are you mainly wanting to use it for music notation software like Sibelius, Finale, etc.?
