Thanks for your efforts. The bass is much more prominent in your mix. Can you comment on your working procedure and the hard- and software you used?
For me, the lead guitar is now a bit too quiet. Especially when listening to it on bad speakers (my smartphone) the sound is dominated by the...
Hey,
lately I came across an interesting project called "matchering". It is a python library, that extracts RMS, frequency spectrum etc from a reference file and masters a given target file to match the characteristics of the reference.
https://pypi.org/project/matchering/
It works for me out...
I guess a real drum and bass track would indeed be much better, but due to time limitations (working full time and this is just a hobby) and Covid restrictions this will most likely never happen.
Yeah, why not, here you go...
It was probably the flanger then. I noticed some sort of modulation on the guitar sound. Wasn't sure what it was. Could have been some small level of talk box or maybe a wahwah, but a flanger also makes sense. It makes the sound more interesting/alive in my opinion.
Very interesting video!
Coming from the physico-chemical science community I had a similar phenomenon in one of my lectures about Fourier transformation.
If you mix two waves, where one wave has the double frequency of the other (i.e. one octave higher), you have to take into account their...
Thanks for the suggestions. I think the bass is a bit going down as you can only hear it at the very low end of the frequency spectrum. Not sure how to bring it out a bit more. Have to check if I find some frequency range that makes it stick out next to the distorted guitars. Also (as a guitar...
Well, the first riff neither contains A nor Ab. The first prominent appearance of the Ab comes later (after about 34 seconds).
The lead parts are essentially arpeggios of the diatonic chords of G phrygian and some runs through the scale.
It kind of started as an exercise when I worked on that...
Thanks for the reply. (y)
With cloudy and indistinct you mean the low end of the guitars or the whole mix?
I already reduced everything below 100 Hz for the guitars, but might go a bit further.
If it is due to drums/bass, I do not really know what to do. The tracks are generated by the band...
Hi,
as a result of (by now more than one year) of home-office I started playing on the guitar again.
Here is an instrumental track I've composed in the G phrygian mode.
I'd be happy to receive some feedback.
Bass and drums come out of a Digitech band creator.
Guitar is an Ibanez RGA32 mol...
Sounds good in my opinion. (y)
As said, the long silence at the beginning is a bit confusing. Thought I had muted my speakers.
Also in the end that last note that rings out is kind of long. But I guess this is just a matter of taste.
What software/equipment did you use for mixing?
I think when playing we are more focused on actual playing and when hitting a difficult part of a song it feels fast because we have to concentrate more, whereas it can sound slower when listening to it afterwards.
Essentially the speed we feel is very subjective and depends on circumstances.
A...
The guitar work is nice in my opinion. Sounds very relaxed (if this is what you wanted to achieve ? ).
Some points that could improve it:
Drum and bass come from the Digitech Trio? I always find that the drums there have too much high frequencies. This makes the clicking sounds very prominent...
Alright, thanks for your answers. That was indeed helpful. (y)
In the future I will check if a) other people already uploaded covers of that song without problems and b) the composer died 70+ years ago.
Just to be on the safe side.
Hi,
I have a question regarding the upload of songs to soundcloud and possible legal problems.
Recently I recorded some music including jazz standards like Autumn Leaves or the Prelude in D by Bach.
There are many uploads of these particular songs on soundcloud already, so I guess there won't be...
Hi, Trichter here from Germany.
I've been playing various kinds of instruments (bassoon to guitar) for more than 20 years now, but always in a non-professional way. Thanks to covid (?) I recently found the time to start recording some instrumental tracks on a Tascam DP24 and ended up here to get...
