This may just be only a pipe dream. But I had a thought about using a track of reversed, room and signal noise/silence to attenuate any S/N in a vocal track. When I record a clip, I usually run 5+ seconds of silence at the end, after my read. My noise floor is usually around -57 to -55dB...
How are you connecting the Mackie to the FTP? I use an Insert Cable, like this:
You can try this:
Mic> XLR to Mackie> Mackie Main OUT-Left (RING, TIP unused) >TRS to Insert 1 on FTP
This will let Mackie control the input, and bypass the FTP preamps and gain controls.

There are many recommendations for the Shure mics on here. Shure is running their rebate offer again this year, just in time for Christmas. :) It sure was a nice addition to my stocking-stuffer that I got last year.

It didn't fire up :cursing:
However, The AT4033 that I got in the deal sounds real nice!
I have been corresponding with Ted Fletcher and it is on the way to the UK, as we speak.
Had a BiAmp Advantage One- Microphone Mixer and an Advantage AGII- Gate given to me. Anyone had any experience or know anything about this gear?
I do not have a use for it at the moment. But, the mic mixer looks like an interesting toy to experiment with its eight inputs.
What are your thoughts and experiences with the Joe Meek VC3Q?
The good, the bad, the ugly? Compressor too heavy handed? Too dark for vocals? Tricky to dial in? EQ any good?
Primarily, I am looking at it for the pre.
Thanks in advance.

I am looking for a scrap, cover for 1U piece of hardware ( 1.72 x 19 x 7.25" ) or an old Symetrix 528e to salvage. I purchased one that is missing the top cover and screws. Apparently, they got tossed out with the bath water.
PM me if you have one that needs to be re-purposed.

Dale removed this URL link that directs you to EQ Cheat Sheet on another forum. After thinking about it, it is not appropriate for me to re-direct our good HR readers away from this forum. My bad.
Looking for a 528e for parts. I bought a used one that only needed switch-contacts cleaned and works fine now. However, it is missing the top cover and screws.

Piggybacking on Espritbonne's thread, are there any MEs who master voiceover demos, following this forum? I read a lot of masterful knowledge and experience with mastering music. But what about VO demos?
Just curious.

Presto,
I think you are using the JS:filters/parametric_EQ. I use the ReaEQ. You can add as many bands, to tweak as you would like, and assign them to your desired frequencies.
Here is a 12 band EQ that I slapped together for show and pulled hard on many of the freqs:
Presto,
This helped me to understand "Q". My layman's understanding is that a Para EQ allows you to target specific frequencies to cut or boost. A tool for precision surgery on a signal.
Hope this helps.

[The "Q" allows you] "the ability to alter the bandwidth [or ‘Q'] over which the cut or...
Anyone know for a fact IF the pre-s can be bypassed on the FTP? If so, how and point me to the documentation.
I am not finding any documented (in the manual) routing to show how to use the FTP to interface without going through the pre-s.
Here is the chain that I am trying to connect...
Although I have never had to use the warranty on my Rode, I have only read good reviews on their "stand-behind-their-product" warranty policy. If you do take advantage of your 10-year warranty, please post an update about your experience. I would be interested to know.
As for the dessicant...
Can someone enlighten me on the topic of "reflection points?" I have read posts mentioning treating the reflection points around a mic placement (ie. first reflection points, second reflection points, etc). It seems there are standard points that require treatment.
Anyone have an explanation...
All of my DIY vocal booth sites are running together. Did I see a picture of someone's DIY vocal booth on this website that was? :
PVC - painted black
Comforter (blue I think) used for the absorption
Thanks in advance.. Been querying the forum and cannot find it.
