Is this a common event? Today I recorded for about 6 hours straight and near the end, EVERYTHING I tried recording sounded like crap. I tried adjusting the levels, mic placement, 703 placement, and even tried eq'ing the crap out of it, but nothing worked. Then I noticed things that I had...
woah this is weird....this topic is on record players! (my otari is in ruins   and I must say after being forced to try digital recording, it in MOST ways sucks to the max,an this if from expirience now, not just an unhealthy prejudice ;) ......)
So I got a record player...
This thing you can buy new for 150 I think, without the stand. Retail price for the stand is proabibly 30 bucks or something.
Stand included!
AC ADAPTER INCLUDED! This is important unless you want to try and run on battery power the whole time you play. The output on this thing is 10v 700mA...
I'm going to record an album soon. I'm going to be a senior in highschool.
How does one my age get exposure? I know there's the internet and stuff, but it would seem the best way to get people to listen is doing shows......In your expirience, is this correct?
Are venues where minors can play...
My reel to reel recorder is pretty messed up, and have put over 50 hours into it. Fixed some problems, but created many new ones. After me trying to fix it up, only 3/8 tracks work!
Now I could care less how I record, as long as it sounds decent and is RELIABLE. And seing I'm 17 and...
can someone please explain to me what ground is and why it's used and how it hooks up to a circuit and how it effects the flow and path of electron flow. I'm having a hard time getting this. Thanks!

300 bucks SHIPPING INCLUDED is not a bad deal AT ALL. With 40 bucks you'll have a new roller. May not look like much but if it works, I would TAKE...
but I think I need to get into digital recording. I know that this doesn't directly link to mics, but since this subject is a pretty general topic about digital recording, I might as well post it here.
I've been using a 8 track reel to reel recorder. Problem is half the tracks don't work...
places like zzounds and musiciansfriend sell 1/2" tape for 60 bucks. I found a place that sells it for 48!

Has anyone bought from this store? Is there possibly anywhere cheaper than this?
I found this guy offering this stereo deck for 130 bucks:
I've heard scullys were made in late 60's/70s? I can't get too much info on them, only that they were pretty decent machines. This one is all tube. If it works ok, I'm thinking of picking it up. I wonder if this machine is even able to...
On my Fender Twin Reverb. This was the first time I have tried discharging any caps that actaully could potentially have high voltages in them.
So I turn off the amp and unplug it. I wait 2 days, just to be safer. Then I put on thick rubber gloves and take off the pan on the bottom of the...
EDIT: I need to re-think about selling all my stuff. Give me a few days, I really need to think this through. This is ALL MY RECORDING STUFF besides my recorder that is all of a sudden working again.....So for right now, all sales are off. If I still want to sell them, I'll say so in a few days...
I'm 17 and have a limited ammount of cashflow. I don't have a huge selection of different mics and pres and amps and stuff, and always got a little annoyed when people discussed in detail different tones and colors and sounds of different mics and pres and guitar amps and guitars and stuff...
what's up with this things "power supply?" I keep hearing it needs a AT8560 power supply. Why, does it have an unusual output connector or something? Do you need this thing for the at4060 to operate? Can you buy the power supply seperately? Thanks!
I've decided to stay away from all the old tube amps that I've been looking at to buy, I think I just want a decent tube amp that is not as old. I don't want to have to replace the filter caps or any other thing like that, I just want to play my guitar, you know? I don't want to have to a. try...
I've got like 700 dollars that I'd like to spend on enhancing the quality of my music. I've got a very decent recorder, and as for a preamp have the dmp3 and for mics I generally use a pair of ADK hamburgs. If I wanted to try and have my music sound a little more professional, should I try...
I may be getting one of these soon, but it won't come with a pedal. Does anyone know what the pedal has on it? Reverb of course, but what about channel select or something? Basically, I'm going to have to make my own, and need to know if it's going to be a 1/4" kind of deal, or some unstandard...
I just got this thing a few days ago. I brought it home, and it worked. Then it didn't and I freaked out a bunch, then figured out that the amp worked through other speakers so I thought the speakers were blown, but turns out all it was was dirty (REALLY dirty) contacts in the speakers wires. I...
