What is the best mastering software package, plugins and/or stand alone, like Steinberg mastering edition, Izotope Ozone, T-racks etc.
Yes, and nobody ever mentioned Prosoniq Dynazone. How good is this one?
What do experienced people say: attempting to get the mix sound right, is it better to EQ various individual tracks, or to use EQ as master effect and equalize mix as a whole?
I tried it either way, but so far could get acceptable results. Which route should pursue further?
Please advise...
From Yamaha website:
The Yamaha CRW3200E is the first CD-RW ever that supports "AudioMASTER" (Audio Master Quality Recording). It's main purpose is the offering of superior recording quality for disks intended to be used for the seer reproduction of audio on regular home CD and car players...
I remember readying that single pops can be removed manually by redrawing wave using Pencil tool, say in Nuendo.
When I zoom in to the point of seeing separate samples and a curve line connecting these samples, I can find a place where the smoothness of this curve is broken by a sharp drop or...
I don't record through MIDI, I only use it to dump synth settings to hard disk or program the synth from computer.
I have Roland synth connected to computer: synth out to pc in, and pc out to synth in.
Whenever I boot computer with synth already running, I get MIDI loop. Whenever I boot...

It is known that video problems can effect the sound, and even result in noice, static and crackle.
What is the most suitable and trouble-free video card for dedicated DAW box?
I had it happened many times.
You listen to someone on the record and vocals sound nice and right. Then you listen to that the same vocalist live and realize that he just can not sing! Every other note is missed, noisy breathing etc. etc.
How do they do it in the studio? Do they assemble...
What coolers are you using for AD XP?
I installed Volcano 6 on my Athlon XP 1700. This thing sounds like my vacuum cleaner. Terrible. Internet newsgroups confirm that this is effective but noisy cooler.
Which one is effective and quite? What do you use?
Does anybody have an opinion how those two stand against each other?
Apart from Seasound nonexistance, and not taking into account difference in the number of ins/outs, how do they compare in terms of sound quality, noise level etc.?
Thanx.
Every time I browse music catalogues I notice some "smaller names" synths, like Nord, Novation. They are not really cheap.
How do they compare to heavyweights, like Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Kurz etc.?
What are their strong and weak points?
I wonder if there is a breakout box, like Delta, Omni, C-port or Solo, that allows to route signal from its input straight into the output while computer is off?
Such box, if it exists, would be very useful at the times that I simply want to play with my synth through monitors.
What mobo would be good and stable for AMD XP 1700+?
Better be without ingrated sound, but as long as it can be switched off I don't care much.
Onboard video is nice if it can handle requirements of audio software. There will be no gaming on this box, therefore I am not looking for top frame...
I don't fully understand how expansion module, like Roland M BD1 would work with XP60 keyboard.
In particular, is it possible to control BD1 from XP60, and is it possible to record BD1 sound on one of the channels of XP60 built-in sequencer as if BD1 is an "internal" sound source?
In general...
I am recording a mix of 16 tracks from the synth as a single audio stereo track on my computer. The recording comes out very clean, crisp and clear, but it is missing the "atmosphere". It sounds rather liveless.
How do I change that? Is it the reverb I should use and/or something else...
I would appreciate advice on several best options for a cable between the synth and soundcard for recording purposes. I am looking for something least noisy and not very expensive.
Here is my strange experience.
I recorded a file with Audiophile 2496. At the point of silence the noise level...
I have to ask the aces to help me understand something here.
When I look at the graphic representation of the wav file it is obvious that peak level is reached by some occasional splashes. Most often they are related to drums kicks, which in some cases coinside with strong notes by other...
Theory behind 96 khz sampling over 44.1/48 khz sampling have been discussed to death already.
This time I am looking for opinions based on experience and sonic impressions on the following:
What CD would sound better, initially recorded at 24/44.1 and converted to 16/44.1 or recorded at 24/96...
