    Cover of Richie Havens "Freedom"

Richie Havens opened up Woodstock 69. One of the tunes he did was a song called "Freedom" I got the idea to do a cover of it, in an "EDM" style.

I'm looking for a good starter vocal mic for under $300 USD - is it possible?

I just bought a Lauten Audio LA-220 off Ebay for 169.00 they sell for 299.00 new. I have used the Rode NT-1 the sE2200 both good mics but the Lauten Audio I like the most. Works on everything. Vocals, Elec & Acoustic guitar...

    Pop Rock

Hi, Thanks for listening. Yeah at this point. The guitars should just start the song. I'm still working on the vocals but this mix is a lot cleaner.

All comments about the mix and the song are welcome, I appreciate any feedback before I send it off to Spotify. Its Titled "Break Free" about trying to break the cycle of being self destructive.

    Who Cover Tune

I knew programming Keith moon would be a gamble. I'm posting one last mix with the drums at a lower volume and less fills. I think its better. Thanks everyone for listening.

    Who Cover Tune

Thanks, after "cork" is one spot I advanced. Its very hard to hear what the kick is doing on the record, I lowered the kick in that spot because I also thought it was awkward, then I put it back up. IDK ?

    Who Cover Tune

Ok I advanced about 70% of the drum tracks, 1/128th, its definitely better and I think its good enough to get the song across. Thanks Boulder.

When is cutting a new nut necessary?

If its a Stratocaster with a non locking tremolo system, the nut is crucial, how it's cut, the string gauge, the lubrication, etc. On the rest of my guitars I notice a difference changing string gauges, which I do often, because I use several different tunings. I just deal with the fact that...

    New Build

I level, polish, and corner the frets so they don't have rough edges.

    New Build

I'm sure they did, This neck was only 50 bucks and its actually pretty nice to play. I couldn't afford to spend a lot on a neck. Overall it came out pretty good. Standard wiring. I never considered cutting off the 22nd fret I guess I could have ? :)

Which "Air" do you prefer ?

I had the Lewitt Pure it is very bright, I found it to be too sterile for me. I'm currently using a WA-47 tube mic which is flat and rich. I'm careful not to over-do the "Air" effect but I do find it enhances the enunciation on the lead vocal. I have a 1073 clone with a 30k boost setting at 3db...

Which "Air" do you prefer ?

A lot of vocals are recorded with "Air" EQ. Do you prefer the sound created by a mic that has a high end lift, or a flatter mic using a plugin/ outboard preamp (EQ) to add the "Air" Or both ?

Manslick : Why'd the pizza guy have to die?

Hi Robert, Sounds great as always, a more Indie Folk type thing here, a bit different from you than usual. What I hear, is the Drums sound too upfront and mechanical for this type of song it needs a more a natural sounding drum track and I would like to hear a more complicated hi-hat part, like...
