Hi guys - I've been away fr the forum for a while...sorry if this has already been discussed: I read a lot of hype about tablets being the future of computers. How does this affect us as amateur/semipro home recordists, other than portability? Or is it mainly for the average user? Thanks.

Hi guys - I'm not new but there are gaps in my understanding... When is stand alone software used, such as Reaktor - for playing live? I've always used these things as vsti's & found out there is a difference between the 2. Thanks.

    cut 250 Hz

Hi guys - I just read the following tip in an article on guitar recording: Watch out for those low mid frequencies! I cut 250Hz out of almost everything. That frequency can be like a blanket over your whole mix! My question is how wide should the Q be? And I'm just an amateur - I realize...

securing cables & wires on the floor

Hi - What's the best way to secure speaker wires & cables in a carpeted room, at the base of the wall and also sometimes crossing under a doorway into another room? I've taped them down before but that starts to peal after a while. Thanks!

are the fx tied to the host?

A friend recorded a piece with fx (see below) that sounded very nice. Anyone know if they can be used in other hosts, or if there is anything similar to these? bun files/reformating

hi - I'm still on Guitar Tracks 2 - limited, but the quickest workflow - for me - of anything I've tried. project files are used by default to save space but they warn you that if there's a crash or reformat of hard drive, you will loose them. The alternative is bun files but they are more time...
