    Room/Mic Problem

I am having to make some videos in a certain room. The room has some sparsely placed acoustic panels on the wall and the mic I am using is a Rode NGT 2. The problem is that I am still getting a fair bit of room noise even though the subject is in a nice padded comfy chair and the mic is...

Youtube okay, or seen as self-promotion?

Youtube is a money making business and makes it's money from Ads as you know. So Youtube wants videos which attract lots of views for lots of advertising revenue. The thing is, if nobody watches your video in the first few hours, then Youtube drops it and it doesnt show up in peoples searches...

    So, I have this cave...

If you remember I said i had been in a pub which was in a cave once. I do not doubt that you can live in one. I said perhaps it isnt suitable for people and that is why they put the animals in there. I also commented on the what could be huge/expensive/or impossible task of converting...

Associated but that's something I never understood Rob. Radon gas causes lung cancer so we are told and gets into our homes as it leaks from the ground. So wouldn't living in a cave have even worse risks? Then you have this.

    So, I have this cave...

Have you ever thought that the caves were not suitable to live in and thats why they put animals there? People renovate old barns, but the barn was built to be a barn or shed originally. A house in old days was built differently than a barn for many reasons. Thickness of walls etc. Your cave...

    So, I have this cave...

Theres a huge salt mine in UK. Like an underground city where they store important documents and the like. Salt caves are dry. I should imagine sandstone could be dryish and very absorbent of moisture. It is a pretty useless rock and easily carved out but not very hard wearing.

    So, I have this cave...

The one thing we have noticed with our studio is towards the end of the day we get tired. We put this down to no ventilation due to being sealed for sound. So a quick change of air with the door wide open and we feel a lot better. Not great when it's bloody freezing outside though.

    So, I have this cave...

I once went to a pub like that a long time ago and can't remember where it was. Could have been in Wales UK? A great place but a perfect moisture place. Fiberglass/rockwool may not last in a place like that and neither will electrical equipment unless serious ventilation or dehumidifiers.

    Sound Proof Door

Who else makes them Rob? But I think I know what you mean. To make a sealed door you need to make the door and frame together as one on a work bench. Even then the sealed system is only as good as the seal.
