    Monitor Speakers From Phones Socket?

I could send from the control room/phones out of a mixer. I have been very tempted by these Yamaha HS7s because they have a “control room” 0, -2, -4 switch. Would that be for getting a signal from the control room out of a mixer...

    Monitor Speakers From Phones Socket?

Hi everybody, does anybody know of, or can recommend, a good pair of studio monitors that can run from the headphones socket output of an Apogee Duet? I’ve seen a few videos on setting up studio monitors but they all tell you to set them up using the speaker output. However, my speaker output is...

Main Mix & Control Room Out?

I will confirm these details on Tuesday the 8th of August. I only use this room every two weeks. I know that's a long time to wait! The suspense is annoying me already!

Main Mix & Control Room Out?

You’re damn right the manual is poorly written and conflicts with information on the console! I will try the control room out with jack leads and see what happens. I guess the output level of the RCA and the Control Room has to be the same as the main mix level to the speakers. Like you said it...

Main Mix & Control Room Out?

Thanks Sweet Beats. Well, what I’m trying to do is send the main mix output from the mixer to a recording device. The main mix out goes to the speakers so I used the phono (2 track) out. It worked Ok but I’d rather use the control room 1/4 inch jack outs because, and this is quite a long story...

Main Mix & Control Room Out?

Hi, I’m using a Denon Professional DN-412X mixer. I’m baffled by something and I’d be grateful for any help. https://www.denonpro.com/index.php/products/view/dn-412x I’ve read the instruction manual, which you can find via the link “downloads” on the page link above, and can’t work out what...

    Studio Recording With Mac?

Thanks Rob, that HD looks good. I'll get one of those just in case! BTW. Why does it say “style name” PC not Mac? in your screen shot. Did you get the PC version?

    Studio Recording With Mac?

I should be able to keep the file weight down to below 250GB. It's only for me and my band. I don't want to get an external HD because you have to know what's good and what's compatible with my machine and that will take some investigation!

    Studio Recording With Mac?

Sorry, that's my bad! It's 250GB, I accidentally looked at RA Memory in the spec! All good!

    Studio Recording With Mac?

Hi everybody, is anybody using a new Apple Mac for studio recording? I really could do with replacing an old machine, from 2014, things have started going wrong with it and my Apogee Duet which I also bought at the same time. So it’s pretty old gear now but the problem I’ve got is my new iMac...

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

Yeah, for sure, I've never heard of phase polarity! I will be learning many new things when setting this up. That's for sure! About the extension cords Gecko, do they do them with a right angle like jack leads? That would be a good idea even is the cords are long enough anyway. Otherwise the...

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

Thanks Dave, the mixer in question is the Behringer Xenyx 802. As you suspected, it doesn’t have feeders just a main out level knob and control room/phones knob. I don’t have a smart phone or any mobile with an internet connection, but I am absolutely open to getting whatever gadget is required...

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

Like I said, you can’t record three things into the Apogee. Guitar and vocals go in, that’s it. However, even if you could I would prefer to run into a tape deck anyway because you can listen to your stuff later without turning the computer on again. The computer is only for the music rig. I...

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

In summary, I think I will get the Yamaha HS7s and NOT use the volume controls on them. Just use the control room/phones out volume knob on the mixer. We will see what goes wrong and I will post when I have got them and set it up! Thanks again for your help.

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

Secondly Gecko, it is going into a recording device. To send from the Apogee outs to a recording device (in this case my cassette 4 track, Tascam Porta 2), and to the speakers I would need to get cables that split the signal and send to two places. It's easier to send the Apogee outs into the...

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

This is becuase I play with a drum machine, well, it's an MP3 player with some drum beats on! And you only have two inputs into teh Apogee!

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

Thanks Keith. The level of input the speakers will get will ultimately be controlled by the mixer. I have audio interface outputs (Apogee Duet) going into the mixer, levels can then be effected by the volume/levels settings of the channels they go into. I am planning to use two 1/4 jack leads...

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

Thanks Dave, actually I've been looking at the HS7s. They are the front runners at the moment. They have jack inputs, volume control apparant, I can't see anything wrong with them at the moment! It's a shame that the volume knob is not on the front like the Adam A3Xs.

    Best Speakers/Monitors From A Mixer?

Hi, does anybody have any advice regarding what kind of monitors or speaker are good to use as an alternative to headphones from a mixer? I play guitar, vocals and a drum machine into a mixer at home and listen though headphones. I would like to be able to listen without the headphones too. The...
