Funny thing happened in route to letting go of my last tape deck

Here we have this Tascam 32 1/4" half track sitting here, unused for years, since I went 'digi. I did all my masters on it when I recorded and mixed analog. Then came the ADATs. Had the first one chase TC on the Fostex 1/4" 8 for a while LOL. Logic' says 'sell that stuff. Right? Then half way...

Anyone done storage drawers as speaker stands?

I would like to commission a pair of custom storage drawer cabinets to take advantage of otherwise lost precious space below my main speaker pair in the home studio here. The speakers are 85 lb SPTech/Aether Audio dual eight Continuum's which regarding cabinet renounces are quite solid in...

    Experiences with mic shields?

Gobo's (Dual fig-8's, and however.. boo on me- I ought to having some overhead. But 'Band is in the other room just to his right where it's better treated at the time. The main dif I see when investing in portable treatment like this (vs a two foot' thing') is they are way more versatile, more...

A drag-and-drop set list organizer prog?

I didn't know where to put this.. Is there a program -somewhere between Word and Excel or what ever, that would let you rearrange Text song names as 'drag and drop items? ? There's Illustrator- that will treat text as a graphic item but, hardly optimum for this.

Need some help with some new speakers

I'm working my way towards building a wide dispersion semi-open 2-10 cab and know some of you have way more experience than I do trying different gear out Using a Mesa C-90 in a Lone Star Special as a ref point- and being pretty happy with that, what would be some speakers to consider? My conern...

    Recording Bass/Baritone Vocals

Here you go. The vocal is an RE-20 > Chameleon 7602- probably a click of HP filter (50?) on the pre. I don't hear the re-20's 'crinkle top on the raw file and may have been using the foam boot on the mic... There's not a lot going on eq wise in the vocal on this one. In the full mix there's an...

    Headphones...

I need a few more. For one at least, what if you liked the light feel, and tone of the akg240's open style, but needed more isolation? -tracking others, but live' in the room with me is the issue. I'm familiar with Sony 7506's and Sen 280 too but not particularly keen on either of them. Some...

    Good experience with ND 967

I've carried the 767 in my bag for quite a while as my go-to when needed, with a slight preference over the typical '58's around. Figured I'd try this one out, and finally got to this evening. My preconceived (learned' :) notion is that mics that let you get too close to the diaphragm are also...

Isolation on a pair of Fig-8's, AC guitars and vocal

I set up to do some guide tracks the other night- nothing fancy but I figured I'd post an example of this setup with comparisons. Initially it's two AC guitars- the one on the left is the second separate one, on the right and center are the pair on the figure-8 mics. 4047' on voc and our old...

Interesting DW Fearn compression (and eq) vid

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fj3Y704Hxo Aside from the lovely tones the man is getting, I thought it was interesting -certainly new to my experience, that his bus compression doesn't in most of the examples ever return to zero reduction. Wow :) Basically contrary to what we normally see, or...
