Here's a new tune we just finished mixing today. Would like some feedback on the mix.
mjhamil - Vocals, Bass
ido1957- Guitars, Backups
Poeticintensity - Drums
Hamilton Steele Band - Leaving It All Behind
It usually takes 30-45 minutes for my mic and pre to warm up fully. Of course by then my voice is also warmed up so that kinda works out ok. But I do wish they warmed up right away. Imagine if the old tv's had taken that long to warm up. Just my gripe for the day....
Hamilton Steele- You
Here's a new version with less lead guitar so it should accomodate the vocals a bit better. Some stereo changes so it's not as centered as before.
Lead features Mike's new USA Stratocaster Deluxe. Let us know what you think.
Hamilton Steele- You
We finally were able to get together again and have updated "You" with remixed drum, added another guitar (Mike), adjusted balancing and a bit of remix; what do you think???
I see my previous thread went completely off the rails. So I'm hoping this one will stay on topic.
I've seen people post that you have to write a lot of crappy songs before you'll write a good one.
It reminds me of that old adage that you have to spend 10,000 hours doing something before...

What's the most expensive mic you've actually used for recording. One you own, borrowed, rented, used in a studio. And include what you liked or disliked about it and recording if available.
I've never explored reverb too much in the past. I have the Pantheon reverb I got with Sonar. There's a few dozen presets to choose from but I stick with Concert Hall almost exclusively. Send the guitars and vocals to the reverb bus and adjust so that it's there but not apparent (that seems to...
Loneliness
Worked on a couple of tunes today.
Remixed a whole bunch of things based on the previous comments. Let me know how this version sounds.

I clicked on a link on this board for pro mixing/mastering services. The rates seemed pretty fair say 300 a song. Then I clicked a little deeper and found they were offering a full 5 piece band to perform/record your song and I assume mix and master for $1600+. My little 10 song EP would have...
Someone mentioned on another forum that you have to write a lot of crappy songs before you can write anything good. I disagree. There's too many guys here that from the start write consistently good tunes. And who decides what is good anyway?
What do you think?

Mainly picked this up from another thread...
Do you like to workshop your lyrics - solicit and/or incorporate other people's suggestions for your lyrics?
Or do you "own them" as mentioned in the other thread?
Posting a remix we did today. It has a bunch of vocal changes, and a lot of new plugins CA2A, Limiter, etc. Let me know what you think of this one.
