I'm using 2 pultec-type EQ's for stereo and notice one is lower by a few dB. I'm patching them in Reaper using Reinsert, and am not sure this is contributing to the issue. Not having a board at this time, what would be a good way to check output levels through these units?

Thanks - had to restart it to work. I'm thinking of using a compressor on a master track to which I send the rest of the channels. Would this be the best way to patch this outboard unit in?

Tried this for the first time today, with not much success. I'm going from Reaper to the Clarett, then to a compressor. I'm able to see the sends in Reinsert, but not the returns. I'm using input 3 on the interface, but in Reaper, I'm only seeing 'track 1, and track 2' on the drop-down menu...

I'm done; I made 8 cables and, after checking, 6 were good, and 2, not. That would give me a 75%, I think; just passing.

I think a lot of my trouble was because I cut the wires so very short, as per their directions. Some videos I saw have the wires much longer, then a twist of the connector when done, to shorten them. It all comes down to a balance between good structural integrity and none, I guess.

Yes - very tough going with this braid. I tried the 'hole' method, but am not able to relax the braid enough without damaging it - a lot of practice, I guess. One question: Neutirk suggests a 14mm length for the end with the TRS plug: Isn't this a bit short? This makes it very hard to join the...

One thing I can say: the braiding on this Canare cable can be quite the job to unfurl. Is there a trick to it?

Found some Neutrik TRS plugs (NP3C - which are discontinued) and am not seeing how this strain relief is supposed to work with the plug. Something doesn't look right for some reason - the part seems too short to cover the connection. Their site is no help to me (what the heck is a 'plugfinger'?)...

I'll hold off until next week, when I get the connectors. I'll try my hand at making come cables with the Canare I already have, and see how it goes from there. (Soldering is a whole other skill I have to brush up on.)
