Are there any really big differences in consoles used for recording than live sound? I'd think they'd be the exact same, but I just want to make sure.
What are some good live consoles in the 1000 range? Drop some names. Would a Soundcraft M12 or A&H 16:2 (I think I heard something about A&H...
When I record (omni i/o and delta 66) the recording VU meter is fine, no clipping, but when I play back my tracks it's just constant clipping on the record VU. I don't know where to go to lower the output, the delta 66, N-track, or my monitors..? Any help?
Christopher
When I record through N-Track using both mic pres from the Omni Studio it records it as one track stereo (one mic being left one mic being right). Does anyone know if this is N-track that records it that way or the Omni Studio? Is there a way to take a stereo recorded track and break the L/R...
This is my first time stepping into this forum and checking it out. I'm going to be moving into my aunt and uncle's downstairs basement type place. I want to be able to record and such, so I'd like to sound dampen/proof it. The problem is, I don't know if they'll let me mod any of the room...
Bayview is pretty much giving these away with every damn order they send out. Anyone have any experience with them or know anything about them.
::looks at harvey::
Christopher
Anyone know where I can find it online? Bayview has it listed but I called them today and they said that they're probably going to be taking it off (it's been at 'approximate shipping date mid march' all month).
Anyone know where to find one I can buy.
Anyone know when the System 3000 is...
I just saw this question before I left from work on friday, and I can't find it now that I"m looking for it. ::sigh:: Anyway, where are there so many outs on stuff like a delta 1010. What are outs used for in that situation?

So I've been wading through the 'mixing/mastering' and 'computer recording and soundcards' forums for a while, trying to decide what would work best for me for the next two years while I go to college. I just want to have a basic set up that I can learn things on, but I want it to be decent so...
Yeah, yeah. I'm going to college and I've got enough money for a cheap mixer. I have standards (or requirements, I guess) for what I want. Let's see what the best one we can come up with is, shall we?
Okay, I want at least six tracks and phantom power. $300-400 bucks. And if it's the...
Okay, this whole area about mixing is getting me really confused. I hope you guys can supply me with some answers and some basic or textbook information that'll help me out (and I know you will).
First off. I'm reading posts a lot and people are always saying 'cut off 4dbs off of the 500khz'...
Okay, here's a nice thread that'll help out people like me. Hopefully there are a lot.
I hear a lot on this board about common mistakes and then someone says 'oh, just boost the *#@&*^@ along with the 138VZ blah blah' and I have no idea what people are talking about. I know that if I was...
What's your preference for...
Best overall (vote)?
And explain in your post which you think has...
Best preamps? Best EQ? Most bang for your buck? Any other grand bonuses?
C'est simple!

I have the chance to pick up a Mackie CR 1604 for 300 bucks.
What I need to know is, how different are these from the VLZ (2nd version), and then the difference between them and the VLZ PROs.
Is it worth it to buy one of these, or should I just save up and go for the VLZ or VLZ PRO? I...
And since a lot of you want to sell your's for $20, I'll take one!!
Seriously, who wants to get rid of their's? Where are all of those people that use them as paperweights. I'll pay shipping. :D
Christopher
Yeah, exactly what the title says. I'm looking for a sound card in the 500$ range (but if you know an extra good on, post up to 1000$ ones) that will record at least 4 tracks onto my computer but keep them as seperate tracks, not just recording them to one stereo mix.. I'd also prefer one with...
This is between say, the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and the Peavey 5150 II. Now, I just start off thinking that the MB is much much better, cause hey, it's contender is a peavey. But I've heard a lot of good things about the Peavey 5150s. I've asked about them in a few different forums and...
Okay, if I'm using a Tascam 424MKIII and our singer sings quiet and then loud and such, so I should use a compressor for this (I think). Now, should I just pick up a compressor that'll work for the four tracks and use them all or what? Hm. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
Christopher
Okay, here we go. I just recorded this with myself and the singer to my band. Don't listen to this and say 'you screwed up on your guitar here, here, and here' or 'your singer's not in tune.' That's not what I'm looking for. I'm going to put up an mp3 that's completely raw. I taped this...
Okay, a while back, probably about a year ago, I got some of my stuff recorded and the person that recorded me used a system that looked something like soundforge.
My question:
He did this thing where he would highlight a spot in the recording, then replay the recording from about a minute...
