Has anyone seen a price for the RD-300SX lower than $1395US?
or the RD-700SX for less than $2195US?
I'm about ready to pounce. Any advice is appreciated.

Does anyone know of a really good mic tech/mod shop?
I have a Neumann U-89, which <knock_on_wood> is working fine. However, it is getting pretty old and I rely on it very heavily. I'd like to know the big dog of microphone repair and hot-rodding, now that Stephen Paul had sadly shed his mortal...
What are your favorite synths that have an unduly deserved bad or non-existent rep?
Mine would be the Roland MKS-7 Super Quartet. Essentially a three part multi-timbral Juno-106 with a 606 Drum Machine integrated. Hostile user interface, but those luscious squishy sounds are all in there...
I need to get a digital piano and I'd like some input. It is for two different purposes:
1) Recording in my studio (often solo or at least featured)
2) Playing live gigs

As you can see, I have lots of 80s Roland synth gear, Hammond...
After a year and a half of inhaling sawdust, OC703 fibers, polyurethane and the like, my studio (HUGE sound generation & capture facility) is complete. Well, as complete as any music gear money pit could be.

Here's what I'm trying to syncronize:
1) MOTU Performer-> JL Cooper Datamaster ->ADAT
or
2) ADAT-> Datamaster -> MOTU Perf
I don't have manuals, so I am kind of guessing how to do this. I've formatted the ADAT tape, which I assume puts time code on the tape. Then I cabled the 9 pins...
I have a hybrid Analog/ADAT studio.
I am getting an old Beige G3 Mac to run MOTU Performer for my MIDI sequencing. It occurred to me that I might want to get a modest digital audio interface for some computer based editing.
I know my machine is not up to speed for running lots of tracks of...
Colleagues,
After a 3 year hiatus, 2 moves and a couple years in non-climate controlled storage, my studio is getting reinstalled. The casualties from the aforementioned abuse is not as bad as feared. The only pieces that are toast are my two old Mac Classic IIs, which I used to run MOTU...
I need a cheap simple rackmount mixer for say... 6 to 12 stereo pairs (12 to 24 channels total). I don't need lotsa aux sends, I don't need lotsa EQ, just clean and not a lot of rack real estate.
I am going to use this in my studio, but not for my recording signal path, just my quick and dirty...
My brother is ready to pull the trigger and buy an M-Audio 2496.
He has three lingering questions about it, for which he desires some real world anecdotes about its efficacy.
1) Compatibility with WinXP. Vendor assures, but any experience with the 2496 and XP is helpful.
2) Compatibility with...
Me? I put a lot of money into analog recording, but now I'm laid off and broke.
Him? He's flush (but a cheapskate) and finally ready to get into digital recording.
He has a new low-end Dell Dimension 2+ MHz P4 box with 256 RAM running Win XP. He knows he'll probably have to get a dedicated...
Colleagues,

I am particularly interested in thoughts on the ceiling mounted diffusor.

I am enclosing three gifs of the proposed acoustic treatment of my li'l studio, HUGE sound generation and capture facility. I seek a reality check and any other feedback from everyone with an opinion and/or expertise.
Some notes:
1) The space is complete (although an empty shell). Thus, walls...
Sound Wave Tamers,
I am putting final plans in for the acoustic treatment for my studio. This forum and others have been invaluable and have spurred me to build my own 703-based absorbers. I have a couple of questions:
1) Can I cut 703 to fit and then reassemble the scraps without concern that...
I am trying to combine lots of different theories gleaned from this list in designing my corner bass traps. They have a Helmholtz component with the varying vertical slat gaps. They have diffusion in that the slats are radiating from a quarter circle, to spread sound out into the room in...
Given that many corner mounted bass traps are much taller than wide, wouldn't it be quicker to make your varying slat width broad band resonators (e.g., http://www.locall.aunz.com/~johnsay/HR/index1.htm) with the slats running vertically? You'd still have the same slat widths, etc... but you'd...
Okay, I've bought and read through the Everest books. I've been to the sae site and read through it all. I think I know what I have to do to transform my stucco'ed 16X23X12 room into a nice sounding facility. I am a fairly competent wood worker.
But I don't have a lot of time to spend building...
Gradient Pressure Fans,
Here is my proposed design for a corner bass trap. I think I may have the concept articulated, but I yearn for some feedback.
The view is from above, showing a big triangular shaft of space, closed at the top, with a thin sheet of plywood and some insulation behind it...
Gradient Pressure Fans:
Enclosed is my latest thought on how I will construct ceiling for my 16' X 23' X 10-14' detached studio. Note the cloud concept with open back full of fluffiness.
Any thoughts on best cheap cloud fill?
Any thoughts on cloud box face that points down?
Thanks in Advance,
Those of you who have followed my glacial progress on my home studio will see in the enclosed pics that I am actually making some progress.
