    guitar cables = hiss ??

So I've been running my Vox ToneLab SE between my bass and my head (GK if it matters). Lotsa hiss when I crank it. Took the Vox outta the chain...ran straight bass to head....better but still a lot of hiss. Unplugged the bass and just cranked the input gain and the master volume all the way...

    speaking of the studio floor....

OK... My jam room is in my garage...concrete covered with carpet. I know that a hard floor is better than carpet but I also live in the high plains desert. Which means it gets damn cold in the winter....which is why I put carpet down in the first place. The concrete got pretty damned cold on my...

    Marshall AVT50H w/ 4X12 cab...thoughts?

There's a dude has one for $450. He says it's about 4 years old, hasn't been played thru much and it looks it. Really good shape. I looked and it said VS2000, made in England if that helps. Online info said it's a hybrid and reviews (mostly) said it's a nice setup. I'm guessing it went for $600...

    Major "hiss" ...active pups...shielding???

So that's the gist of my post. My ESP bass has active pickups and I'm running thru a GK head/cab. The hiss I'm getting is fairly loud and thoroughly irritating. I've jammed on a couple other GK setups and it seems this hiss is kind of their nature. Both of em were fairly loud (hiss...

    Bass cabs and tone...your thoughts?

So I've got the GK Goldline head (500 watt, lower end head) and the MBX 4X10 cab (400 watt). I've also got an old Earth 2X15 cab but it's only got the one 15 wired up. It's an Eminence Legend (8 ohm, 300 watts). Both cabs are 8 ohm which should give me a 4 ohm out of the head. Recently (ish)...
