sometimes when i just kinda wan a "thumpy" kick, i'll use a medium or slow attack on a gate to kill some of the transient. it sounds like i hear other people do this on some things on the radio, but i can't be sure. ever tried it? i kinda like the way it sounds (given the material and what not)

i just removed the inner mesh and the HF disc from my mkl2500 and didn't stab even one single hole in the diaphragm :) never really had very steady hands...... i think i like it a little better, but i haven't played with it much yet.

i read this somewhere a while ago, but i just tried it yesterday. when using something like an L1, chain the bastards. two of them at -3 sounds about a billion times then one at -6 (or would that be +6?, whatever) but seriously, do that........ it's sooooooooooo much better. two in a row...
