I have a 4 input Focusrite, so I should be all set if I record with 4 as a maximum. Thanks BSG.

My next question is, what would be a good little mixer if I use say 5 microphones to mic the drums? How much would such a mixer cost as far as a range of prices goes? I am thinking a 16 channel would be enough channels. That way other instruments could play along mic'ed.

That is more in line with how I watched my brother's bands do it....play live, record the drums to that performance, then add bass, etc....which it seems Rob disagrees with. So confusing to know what to do.

I am seriously considering buying some drums, instead of using my drum machine. If I bought say a 5-piece kit, how many mikes should I have? An overhead condenser, and 5 SM-57s do the trick? One for kick, one for snare, two for riding toms (one each), one for floor tom. Condenser for overhead...

I have come across several videos on You Tube that discuss checking mono vs stereo, to make sure the mix sounds good in both. In Reaper, how would I do such a thing? Would I toggle this button on and off?

I see that #3 is definitely the way to go. Thanks for pointing out those different points. Question, can mastering be done in Reaper, or is a separate, stand-alone program needed to Master?

Thanks Spantini and everyone. I figured out how to do it in Reaper by applying the volume fade to the Master channel. All I had to do was create two points representing the fadeout I wanted at the end of the song, and then lower the volume line on the Master channel. It did exactly what I...
