For you first problem, turn off software monitoring in Reaper. Click on the little loudspeaker icon next to the arm record button untill it says 'record monitoring off'
For your second problem, go to option/preferences/recording and uncheck the box where it says 'prompt to save/delete/rename...
I've mentioned a number of times before that I started with Logic when it was still available on PC, then switched to Reaper early in the new century when Logic became Mac only.
I had to unlearn stuff and learn new stuff, but even though the two DAWs were quite different, my experience with the...
I tried to replicate the problem but have been unable to. I had thought you might have inadvertnatly clicked the locking icon (little padlock on the menu bar) but that doesn't prevent you from inserting empty space. So I am lost for an answer.
If you still have the installation file, you can pop that onto a USB stick, then install Reaper onto the new fevice from that. YOu also need to look for your Reaper licence file and copy that across as well.
As he said above, it's catchy. It's a throwback to the nineties, using a lot of the musical tricks and techniques of the time. However, I bailed after about a minute because of how loud the mix was. Once evereything kicked in it was just a wall of sound that was not pleasant for me.
A great song. Interesting and engaging. You have done very well.
There are technical things that you could do. Others have mentioned them above.
I am impressed by the strides you have made since you first posted at HR.
Just to be perverse, I don't think the bass is too hot, nor the voice too loud. The voice is wonderful and full of character, and sounds great being up front.
I wouldn't mind hearing the kit being up a bit, and my preference would be for a less busy guitar strum to create strength and space...
You could try a slightly different approach, and skip the idea of conventional mixer but go for a multichannel interface instead.
For example you could get an interface such as the Behringer 1820. This will give you eight line level inputs, so you could take stereo out of each of your synths...
THere are two options available.
If Reaper is playing ok, but you are not hearing it via the mixer, the first thing to check is Reaper's audio settings to make sure that USB is slected as the output device. It's possible that Reaper is playing throgh the laptop's own audio.
If the Behri USB is...
I think there has been some talking at cross purposes in this thread.
OP said:
What I understand from this is that when OP monitors the input through the interface directly, it sounds fine, but software monitoring from the DAW (but also through the interface) does not sound as good. I'm not...
Are you referrring to the bar and time counter on the transpoirt bar in Reaper?
I just loaded up a song, set the playback rate to 0.5 and hit play. The song played back at half speed ok. The counter continued to reflect the times and measures as shown on the screen
Maybe she is trying to do an American accent, but it doesn't really sound like one. Instead it sounds like a quirky way of singing, which is not unappealling.
