Planning to buy back my original Scully 280 4-track I had 12 years ago, yep. That was my all-time favorite multi-track machine … I’ve had a few other 280s but none of them sounded like that particular one (an early one I believe).

I like the sound + the ‘70s vibe of the design. Reminds me more of the old school Teac sound (like the Model 5 vs M35). Also prefer the simplicity of the EQ and layout.

A medium being “just there to collect the sound” is an opinion I strongly disagree with … just as many would disagree that a guitar amp is “just there to amplify the sound”, and therefore the cleanest, most convenient, and least expensive option that accomplishes that task should win.
