I'm fixing up a 70's HH Electronics V-S Musician amp. One of the caps has been leaking, so I'll replacing both of them.
We're talking about 4700uf 50V elctrolytic capasitors here. Easy enough to order a couple put them in of course.
I fixed up a Fender Bassman this summer. When reading up on...
I got a Electro Harmonix Poly Chorus. If you turn up the Rate, pretty quickly a horrible clicking noise comes in.
Through a quick post in the Guitar & Bass section I learned this is clock noise and is considered normal.
Is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks.
I thought I had a good deal a whyle back on a used Electro Harmonix Poly Chorus pedal.
The trouble is the more you turn up the Rate, the faster a weird clicking sound comes up.
Does any one have any idea what this could be, or what to do about it?
I am using the original, correct power...
Do you want a cheap mic, or do you want a raunchy sound?
It's the easiest thing in the world to buy a cheap mic.
If you want raunchy you're going into the realm of harmonica microphones, Shure has the Green Bullet, which is not cheap at all.
A cheap solution is to use the capsule from an old...
I've been repairing dynamic mics for years and I've become very good at it. Of course there not much inside them.
But I also have a stack of AKG and Sennheiser SDC's which I made some half hearted attempts at, but put aside again. :(
A common problem seems to be that they "kind of"...
I walked into a great deal last weekend; a Sennheiser K3-U with ME80 Hypercardioid capsule + a Sennheiser K6P with (what appears to be a) ME64 Cardioid capsule, together for €100 ($130) + stamps. They're worth around 3x that.
But this gear is mainly for going out into the woods and record...
There've been complaints about low activity here today, so I thought I'd help out.
I need a mic that sounds good on everything (!), can do the washing, walk my dog and mow the lawn.
I've got a $12.35 budget.
What are my options? :drunk:
My brother uses the Whammy quite a bit. He's quite handy and wants to build a clone of one of those Molten midi controllers, to go with the whammy.
Does anyone have schematics?
Or maybe someone can at least post a picture of the insides of a Molten midi controller, to get an idea what's in...
I've bought a Elektro Harmonix Micro Pog.
I'm using the Dry Out for my main bass signal.
I feed the Effect Out through a couple of pedals.
Then I blend the two signals back together.
For the time being I'm using a simple DOD "Resistance Mixer" to blend the signals, which sends each signals...
Anyone know any? Most just go lower, not higher.
And I want to use it on bass, so that's an issue.
Plus, I've tried a couple of octavers who had a tendency to just cut off the sustain of the added note, which is unexaptable of course.
Thanks!
I've had my eye on one of those early Joe Meek VC3 channel strips for a while. I found one for a nice price at a clearance sale this weekend, only used for display, so I'm a happy camper...
It came in a set with that JM47 LDC mic which I wasn't going to bother with, just sell it on right away...
Shame on me, I don't have an RE20. I've been offered a PL20 for under $200.
Apparantly they renamed al the RE's to PL's for a whyle and it's actually the same mic.
Do you know anything about this?
I'll be picking up an old Fender Bassman amp next sunday.
I'm looking at the "Overhaul kits" on vintagefenderamprepair.com does anyone have any experience with them? Looks like a great deal to me.
Thanks
I just got a defect D202. I've got it to work (loose wires) and I'm in now putting it back together.
I've had a D242 appart a while back and it appears to be the same mic inside and out.
Does anyone know if there is an actual difference?
Moresound?
I'm a guitar player, but through the years I've gathered quite a collection of synts/keys etc. I took some piano lessons allong the way, so I can do some nice arrangements on home recordings, nothing fancy.
I'll be building a new studio soon and want to permanently set up all this stuff. I...
This summer I will be building my new studio in the garden. My cousin's doing a studio technician course, and knowing my plans he had a chat with the course instructor.
His teacher suggested this, give it a look, it's quite unique:

I'm rather intrigued by this...
Yesterday my pair of Rode NT2's came back from Michael Jolly. The result is astounding! It even makes just talking sound musical!
Anyone out there on a budget; get a Rode NT1 / NT2. It sounds roughly like a Neumann TLM 103, which is useful enough until you saved up for the mod.
I would have...
... found this one last week. Made by Reslo, obviously, but the label with additional info is missing. Google didn't help much.
I did a quick comparison to an SM58 and this mic sounds quite nice.
Does any one know which type it is?
I've been fixing and resoldering cables for myself (and basicly every musician I know) for close to 20 years. So I know how to solder, I know a good plug, I know how to avoid ground hum... what still puzzles me is:
What makes a good cable?
I'm about to build a 24 pairs multicable...
