I have no idea what it's called. So, I'll try to explain and hopefully someone will be able to understand and help. I have looked on youtube and can't find a video for what I want to do.
This is ONLY an example: I have 3 guitars on the right side.
Acoustic is panned 100
Rhythm is panned 50...
If you've ever read any of my posts or listened to anyone of my mixes, I ain't normal. It's not a good or bad thing, it just is.
Listening to the album I just mixed, 7 songs are right in line, 1 is a bit loud (easy fix), 2 have low parts that are just too low (which might be a harder fix)...
The song is called Beautiful.
I have one question: The break is strange. The ending of the solo is dissonant. There's good and bad dissonance. When I recorded this, I thought "this is it". It tops off the weirdness that is the break. But, I have a few friends that hate any dissonance in pop...
This is the last song I recorded before starting the album I'm working on. It's the first "The GC Star" song, and was mixed by Mr. Don Casale a wonderful lifelong engineer. His most famous album engineering is Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. I've known Don since the 80s.

I thought I was done recording for a while. But, this song came to me. Perhaps it's because it's my newest song, I think it's pretty cool. I think the mix is there. But...

I was told a while ago that the pledge was so badly out of key that many wouldn't listen to it. They thought the rest sounded fine. I replaced the singing class pledge (taken from youtube) with a spoken version of my own. So, hopefully the out-of-key stuff is gone. But, with me, you never know...
I keep my Master Fader at 0.
None of the tracks are recorded hot. They're all recorded well (as well as I can do). None hit the red on 0. I never have to push them up for them to be heard. I can blend fairly well.
Maybe 2 or 3 times in a song, usually on a vocal word, the meter will nudge...
This is hopefully the last one I need to ask opinions on. It's a mammoth. The one thing I do know, I hate the opening and closing vocal. The reverb drenched before the lyrics come in.

I used to follow The Muffs around the east coast for years. If you're a fan, you know Kim passed away in October from ALS.
I made this video tribute. It's nice, if you're a fan.
I do believe this is the final mix for this song. I had two up originally, but one sounds weak next to two.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
BTW: The avatar is a painting by a magnificent surrealist painter Naoto Hattori. That painting with such detail is roughly 2.5" x 2.5".

This song is a tribute to my God. Who apparently HATES this song. Because when I think it's where it's suppose to be, something else is pointed out. BUT, I think this is it. YES, there's dissonance in the guitar work (not bass), for once I just really like it, and have decided to keep it in...
I have Pro Tools 6 and only have the reverb that comes with it. Small/Med/Large - Hall/Room 1 & 2/Ambient/ etc
I'm mixing, and I do NOTHING with any true knowledge. I listen to what I like and leave it at that. I have one professional who rarely likes the amount of reverb I use (I just love the...
I aimed to do a deconstructed break. It's weird. I like it, but I'm not exactly sure. Maybe a different effect on the vocal at that point. I don't know.
The BG vocals are they in key?

For the most part Ramones songs are under 3 minutes, and the early stuff is under 2 minutes. They are what's known as the exception to the rule. There are others, but very few.
Since I don't speak in musical language, I hope I can make my point clear. Because it can only help when recording...
Besides the mix, if there's any blaring off-key vocals or anything, let me know.
I wanted to try something different. Depending on the level, I started this in mono. I'm a little strange.
The lyrics are in the soundcloud notes, if you care.

I can really use some open-minded opinions on this. I always send a copy of my songs to select friends to guide me on my out-of-key notes. It's always my vocals. I knew the guitar parts were weird, because of the fluid acoustic chords. I didn't know they were dissonant. There is good dissonance...
I have Pro Tools 6.
When I want to upload any audio file (usually exported from melodyne) it never works. So, I right click on the audio file and choose open with Pro Tools. The audio file is uploaded and everything works great.
I changed a live drum track in melodyne to a midi file. I tried...
I'm probably not going to explain this correctly. But, I'm hoping someone will be able to recognize what I'm looking for.
Somewhere on a thread someone mentioned a "plug in" that shows the range of waves while mixing, so you can be sure you're not to high or low, and that your mix has a proper...
You ever record a song and like it one minute and can't stand it the next? Maybe I'm getting too picky, or maybe not picky enough.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
