To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

I wasn't at all familiar with the Plek machine. I googled. Thought I'd simply share with other people who are equally unfamiliar with the machine and the process.

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

The standard dimensions of guitar frets vary depending on the manufacturer and the style of guitar. The most common fret size is medium jumbo, which is around 0.106 in wide and 0.036 in tall. Google it!

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

Is that Plek machine doing something that competent custom guitar luthiers (and mass manufacturers) are incapable of doing themselves when they build guitars?

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

A Plek guitar setup uses a Plek machine to scan and adjust a guitar's frets and other parts to improve its playability. The machine can identify issues and make recommendations for adjustments. How it works The guitar is loaded into the Plek machine. The machine scans the guitar's frets...

Can't Get Guitar to sound right when recording

Yup. Placing another mic 6' from the sound source yields a 5 millisecond delay..... a Poor Man Delay minus the pedal. ?

Do you really think that he's gonna listen to that? FFS, we haven't even heard him sing yet. It's the same originally recorded lithium riff repeated over and over and over again with different amp dial positioning and STOMP pedal mashing. IMO, this thread is an insult to every well intentioned...

Fret Not If Your Guitar Doesn’t Perfectly Intonate Up Down The Fretboard

Years ago, here at HR, there were a few luthiers who inhabited HR. I miss their advice and continued presence, but I understand their decisions to move on.

Fret Not If Your Guitar Doesn’t Perfectly Intonate Up Down The Fretboard

I stumbled upon a great article...I'll circle back to that later. A few days ago I reached into my closet of acoustic guitars that I hadn't touched for at least 6 years. I grabbed an Alvarez, tuned it at the nut end, worked my way up the fretboard only to discover that something was amiss. It...

Mid 90s indie guitar US trio type number: Grace

I agree with Papanate. The chimey guitars are a touch overwhelming. Rickenbackers on steroids. Good tune though!
