    The Chair

I've sat on several chairs over the years, and have not found any partiocularly satisfactory, until I managed to get a chair that was being discarded from a major call centre as part of an office refurbishment. That is the one I'm sitting in as I type now. It is firm, comfortable and strong...

    Behringer UMC1820

I've been using a Presonus Firepod for years. It's progressively dying, and had become annoying by losing synch at random, I looked around for replacements, and had a lot of difficulty finding an interface that offered the same functionality as the Firepod. In the end, and partially in...

    Band recording

The outputs are sent separately (but simultaneously) via USB. Witin your DAW you your create eight tracks, selecting a different input for each. Hit record, then all eight tracks get recorded at once.

    Band recording

There are a range of interfaces around with the number of inputs you require. You might look at the Behringer UMC1820. Or, you can consider a mixer with multi-channel output, such as the Alesis multimix

Simplest way to fade out a song?

The easiest way is simply to create a header track, indent everything underneath, add a volume envelope to it, then sculpt the fade how you like.

    My Future (Billie Eilish cover)

I like the airiness of your voice. I haven't heard the original, but I like the sound of this

Compose a new instrument from individual notes

You can create a soundfont using an application such as Polyphone, then load the sondfont into a soundfont player such as sforzando. Also, if you have Reaper, you could probably do it using ReaSamplOmatic

Basic equipment to get started jamming and recording

That little mixer should work for you as an interface. However, it will only send two channels via USB to the computer. You can have a single stereo track (for example a keyboard), or two mono tracks (e.g. a vocal and a guitar). With the latrer you would need to pan the chennles hard left and...

Allen & Heath ZED Sixty 14FX USB

I had a quick look at the A&H, and it seems to me that there ought to be a way of monitoring playback without it being fed back into the recording stream. I think you need to experiment with the Playback fader and the controls above it.

Basic equipment to get started jamming and recording

Generally, your Youtube , spotify etc audio would go throutgh the interface and the PC speakers would be redundant. Most interfaces come with one headphone socket. Some come with a pair. If you need more, you can get a headphone amp that you connect to the interface to give you more outputs.

best parametric (graphical) equaliser recording software PC

Farview speaks words of wisdom, so its worth heading his advice. Using your PC's internal sound and its inputs and outputs are not going to give you much joy if you want to record more seriously than just tinkering around. An audio interface is designed specicially for recording; to allow full...

How much of a difference will upgrading an audio interface make?

This ^^^ I have a couple of Firepods that I've been using since like forever. Both are becoming unreliable now, an so I have had to find a backup. I searched and compared lots of interfaces, but I couldn't find any that had the same level of functionality that the Firepods have, i.e. * all...

Basic equipment to get started jamming and recording

It sounds like you will benefit from having an audio interface. This is a piece of hardware thatreplaces the internal audio of your computer, and is designed to allow efficent duplex audio, i.e. audio being input while other audi is being output. You hook up monitors and/or headphones to the...

Lip sync video of pre-recorded music advice and new post 10-14-21 pg 3!

Playing is great and you've got a good sound on the guitar. When you lean in to the mike we get a clearer sound on your voice. I liked the bit where you sing and play the melody together. Wear headphones if you are more comfortable doing so. It doesn't really matter whether your background is...

Mic works, sound plays through headphones and FL Studio but nowhere else.

If you make sure your systems sounds are set to your interface, you should be good to go with using the mike (and interface) outside of FL. To sort out Discord, go to the settings (the cog down bottom eft near your name), scroll down and select "Voice and Video". Input and Output settings may...

@Winfred I enjoyed your version of both sides now. It was unusal and engaging. Two thoughts about the video . . 1 Your vocal could come up a bit more. It has a nice quality that doesn't need to be hidden. 2 Make sure the background behind you is what you want.
