iPad vs Macbook and Garage Band vs other DAWs???

Hi. I would also steer away from using a pc/tablet with 4 Gb RAM. That is barely enough to run Windows. The pc linked above is way more suited to working with a DAW. All the best.

Question about collaborating using different DAWs

Musician A is correct, and musician B is wrong :thumbs up: It IS done that way all the time.

Question about collaborating using different DAWs

Hi. I have a collaboration project with friends in the USA and Scotland, and we use 2-3 different DAW's (Studio One, Cakewalk and PT) without any issues. I do the same with other collaborations as well. All you need (as mentioned above) is to share tempo and time signature and song key if...

    let me see your studio!

Hi. This is my home studio. The rest of the guitars are downstairs, plus an Alesis DM6 electronic drum kit. I use a Heil PR40 (through an UA LA 610 mk II) as my main vocal/shouting/screaming mic, an Avantone CK-1 for acoustic guitar and a Lewit 440 Pure for "normal" singing (through either a...

    2020 Hindsight BJZ

Thanks for the feedback, both endlessrain & jimistone. I didn't mix this. I just sang and played guitar. I will forward this feedback. All the best.

Using midi controller to toggle between/focus on tracks

Hi. Perhaps use two of the buttons to map to next/previous track in CbB (Cakewalk by BandLab). All the best.

Absolute beginner requesting help with MIDI device and DAW

Hi. If you are using a PC, I highly recommend looking at Cakewalk by BandLab. It's totally free, with no restrictions. It is what SONAR Platinum would have been, if still around. All you have to do is sign up, and download the Bandlab assistant, and it takes care of the rest...

Stealing Soul ft Bapu & Jyemz

Hi, and thanks for both of your feedbacks :thumbs up: I found the culprit, and it was some strings that were overdriving the input of a plugin, making that distortion. I have addressed the issue. I'll try to make some pitch adjustments to my vocals as well. All the best.

Stealing Soul ft Bapu & Jyemz

This is an old song of mine that I re-recorded and finished mixing a couple of days ago. I had help with the bass and the solo at the end from two friends of mine from USA (Bapu on bass) and Scotland (Jyemz on solo) All feedback is appreciated. All the best. Stealing Soul by Zargg | Free...

    Lesser expensive DAW Recommendation

Hi. The new free version of Cakewalk is a fully fledged DAW, with lots of options/possibilities. It is what the latest versionSONAR Platinum would have been, plus lots of new bug fixes and additions. There is also Pro Tools 1st and Studio One Prime as other free DAW's. All the best.

    Lesser expensive DAW Recommendation

Hi. Cakewalk by BandLab is a fully grown DAW with lots of options and is now free. I highly recommend it. REAPER is also very capable of doing all you want but has a steeper learning curve (IMO). Studio One has a free version called "Prime" and is also fully capable of doing the basics. And...

    Ok....Don't Laugh....Dumb Question

Hi. I've when unsure about playing something new or something I've forgotten, used a piece of Gaffa/duct tape on my guitar, and scribbled the chords there. Noone will notice. All the best.

    Monitor Recommendation for Small Space

Hi. I was also bummed to hear that Equator was out of the marked :( I was hoping to get a pair of D5's autumn, but I'm hesitant to buy anything that's going to be hard to maintain/find parts for. All the best.

    Old Cakewalk backups

Hi. I have the latest Cakewalk by Bandlab and can open projects from as far back as Pro Audio 9, (and SONAR 2XL) without any issues. The only thing is that it's all 64 bit, so the 32-bit Dxi's (if used) will not load. Give it a go. It is the full SONAR Platinum, without some of the 3rd party...
