Hahahaha I just realized I'm replying to a thread that ended in 2004. Duh.

    Recording a Talkbox

talkbox solution I just made a talkbox, some of this might provide you with a solution: I bought a $30 horn from Radio Shack (I had to dissassemble to take the driver out of it), some 1/2" tubing, 1/4" connector, and a black project box to hold it all. Put it all together in less than five...

Is Antares Autotune 3 worth the bread?

Ha...thats a good analogy. I've played around with their demo, using the auto feature, across entire tracks. Even when the vocals are 98% in tune, it seemed to create an unatural Cher effect on notes as they varied pitch....does that make sense? So...I think I probably would use it on phrases...

    New Tune for critique

Thats a good question. I've seen similar things drawn in the tracks of Sonar....where no sound exists... Here's a question: Lets say I have a commercial cd where I like the eq of the program. Is there any software editor that I can use to "take a snapshot" for reference on my own mixes? I...

Is Antares Autotune 3 worth the bread?

I use Sonar and would like to hear from Sonar users who use this product. I know purists don't endorse it, but it could become a useful tool.

Panning a track in the middle?

He should get that SONAR POWER book by that know-it-all guy. Even though it will only take you so far, it can become a handy resource on the fly. Its easier to read than to type and read. I didn't realize he had posted elsewhere and wasn't taking the FREE advice. My bad.

"Sonar 3.0 sounds better" - Show us!

Personally, I'll probably upgrade because I just like buying new thingies.....software especially. However, I tend to discount any claims to audible differences or nuances since it all relies on my input.....which explains why I'm not a career musician. Long Live Homerecording

Good tune..... I'm a bass player first, so I'd say turn up the bass....I wanna feel that kick drum in my chest too, How do you get a picture of the waveform??? That could be a great reference tool for duplicating some mastering....I think.

"Sonar 3.0 sounds better" - Show us!

How can it possibly make THAT much of an audible difference? Its not like we are moving from 1/4" to 2" tape.... How do you compare, unless you have two completely identical systems side by side (not likely) and even then it is subjective to whats going on between your ears. Just my silly...

    Sonar 2.1 lockup

I thought of that and tried it, however it caused the same lockup problems...I am assuming for the same reason: trying to manipulate many, many, many clips. What a disaster.... I finally redid the take and its fine....after all it is my vocals and its not like we are talking a masterpiece...

    Sonar 2.1 lockup

problem solved...... first of all, to answer Porter: Yes, I installed Sonar on both systems. In fact, that helped me determine that the problem wasn't with Sonar and wouldn't require a reinstallation as duchay suggested previously. What I finally figured out was that the problem was...

    Sonar 2.1 lockup

I'll check for a fragmented drive as well. I'm not really known for keeping my disk "clean". I've been too paranoid using the disk cleanup option in Sonar.

    Sonar 2.1 lockup

Now that I think about this, it must be a problem with my system or song specifically and not Sonar, since it happens in both XP and 98SE. Each of those are separate installs..... I must have done something screwy within my song/project. Or my system is freaking out. When I get home, I'll...
