This is a song about marijuana
I want to thank everyone for putting up with my first attempt at home recording. I agree with what everyone has said. I am going to try and remix. Confident I can bring it down.
There is a bit more going on here than just the mix.
This is a song about...
Not really distorted but loud - turn down a little
The vocals are a bit overdone and I think the word used to describe the mix is too hot.
You can turn the volume down some when listening
This is a first take - first time I did the song. I was just playing around with it. I didn't hit good...
I lucked out and got the DP -008 just before the FX version came out. Big discount.
The omni directional mics that come with the DP-008 are E as in Excellent.

Did this on the DP-008 then applied compression in Reaper. Sure, if I spent...
I probably did everything wrong. But I did the best I could with what I have.

New to home recording.
Current work flow.
Tascam DP-008 - only records 2 tracks at a time. Only using the 2 omni directional condensor...
What kind of music do you like? In your 3 years of messing around with the guitar what is an honest opinion of your ability on the guitar? Can you tune a guitar by ear??
Actually there are only about 7-15 dudes that know how to play guitar. None do You Tube. A good clue is if somewhere in...
Thanks for the responses. It is like I thought – digital is more sensitive to incoming signal than analog.
“The big confusion of levels stems from the fact that, in their wisdom, the developers of digital sound chose to use a different scale when measuring their signals.”
You have to wonder...
I have read many times about recording low with -db's and headroom. Not sure I understand the fundamentals.
Is the reason for recording low that digital is more sensitive to incoming signal than analog? Also I have not come across the need for headroom? I know that in photography it is...
Ben,
The magic is in the doing. Just start. Keep it simple. Helps if you develop a flow chart and keep notes on paper. Reaper has good instructions and has a user forum.

"I'm assuming it's the reverb or echo or something (I don't know what you call it)." Your recording is very dry. It is not reverb making it that way - you are not using reverb. You will be blown away once you add some verbs.
Also use a pop filter on the mike.
I think only God would know the answer to your question. You have a lot going on here. You have a lot of equipment that most people are clueless about. You have some kind of set up but provide no detail schematic. You are going to do some kind of podcast but again vague. I think I would...
There are some signs of promise in the vocals but needs work. The worst of it is with the "no more - no more - i can't take no more" The focus here is on the "o". Try no -o on the first 2 no's. Then I would split Whitney - Whit - ney. Very slight pause. It is more like you are talking...
There is really nothing here. But that being said the second version - the Pro mix - is better to me. At least you can understand the meager lyrics. Hope some dancing goes with this. Too bad no one knows how to play a guitar or something.
This is the best recording I have heard this morning. Would love to hear this with some dueling guitars and a country girl wailing about how he broke her heart. If you are just starting out you are going to do great.
Drums off - slopping guitar - whatever - you were riding the vibe and you...
Best thing I have heard this morning. Guitar and drums good. Maybe just a little variety in the attack. Weak link is the vocals. To me it seemed like the singers were a few feet away from the mic and ... Here is a trick for all you "Young Guns" - practice singing as loud as you can in your...
This song is loud enough. Rhythm guitar is off - not enough punch and annunciation. Faster tempo would help. Vocals weak. And the place where the vocals is "tonight" a couple of times wanders. Not the vocals - the music is just wrong . It is like you have some wiz bang effects you want...
